Bernie’s Army: 24 Organizations With Millions of Members Vow To Help Pass His Universal Medicare Plan-

"....Sanders described the organizing that will be put into passing universal Medicare as similar to a presidential campaign.

“We’re going to put together a grassroots movement that organizes people in all parts of this country much like we did during the presidential race,” he wrote. “There will be rallies, buttons, bumper stickers, shirts and most importantly people organizing in their communities across the country. This is not going to be a quick or easy fight. We’ll be taking on the insurance companies, the drug companies, Wall Street and all those who make billions in profit from the current dysfunctional system.”

I can't help but think that some of these democrats who are suddenly saying they'll support it are only doing so because they know it won't pass. It is a Republican government, after all.

It may be their sneaky way of having their cake and eating it too - useful for their futures with progressives who'll be fooled by this "show" of support.

I'm looking at you particularly hard, Kamala Harris.

Jimmy is wondering the same thing today.

With politicians it does pay to be cynical.

My guess is that she is doing this because Sanders did and she believes one needs to support this in order to win the Dem Presidential primary in 2020.      But we all know what the DNC did to Sanders so she is talking a risk as it relates to her future if she gets on the wrong side of the DNC.

Not if the DNC knows that she - like Obama - will never actually vote for it when it matters. I'm sure she and they are quite understanding of it as only a ploy for votes from progressives.

When it comes to it, she'll dutifully pull a Corey Booker - and the DNC knows it.

Sanders is the real thing. That's a huge difference.

Bernie Sanders: Saudi Arabia Is “Not an Ally” and the U.S. Should “Rethink” Its Approach to Iran -

.....“I consider [saudi Arabia] to be an undemocratic country that has supported terrorism around the world, it has funded terrorism. … They are not an ally of the United States.”

The Vermont senator accused the “incredibly anti-democratic” Saudis of “continuing to fund madrasas” and spreading “an extremely radical Wahhabi doctrine in many countries around the world.”

“They are fomenting a lot of hatred,”.......we have sided with them time and time and time again, and yet Iran, which just held elections, Iran, whose young people really want to reach out to the West, we are … continuing to put them down.”

Sanders said he had “legitimate concerns … about Iran’s foreign policy” but wanted a more “even-handed” approach from the United States to the “Iran and Saudi conflict.”.....

“I think Donald Trump has strong racist tendencies,” he said. “And I say that not just because of his absurd and horrific remarks on Charlottesville, but because … when you lead the effort to try to de-legitimize … the first African-American president in our history, I think that’s racist. When you argue about the Central Park 5, I think that’s racist — so I think it’s fair to say he has strong racist tendencies.”.....

"Today, Secretary DeVos made an outrageous and unfortunate announcement that she is overturning an Obama initiative than protected women on college campuses from sexual assault.

Campus sexual assault is a major problem, and it must be dealt with. We must do everything possible to make sure our campuses are safe for all students. This decision does a disservice to those who have worked hard to address sexual violence....

It's Bernie Sanders v Lindsay Graham on CNN at 9 tonight in a health care debate.  My prediction is that Graham uses the word "Socialism" (shudder : ) ) over and over again to say what he doesn't want rather than explain to everyone what is so good about his repeal and replace bill.

Bernie fell into the trap of bashing Trump for its own sake and doing so out of ignorance. He should be understanding Title 9 correctly before he goes shooting off about it like that.

A year later, Bernie Sanders calls Donald Trump's election an 'unprecedented disaster' for America-

...Trump ran a “clever” campaign, portraying himself as a different kind of Republican who would represent working people and not just big money interests.

“But a year later if you look at his record, you find that almost everything that he said was a lie,” Sanders told USA TODAY. ......

Democrats, he said, must confront Trump’s “outrageous behavior” every day, pushing back on his “hate-filled agenda.” But if they want to be successful in future races, they must also push for a progressive agenda that speaks to the needs of the middle and working classes.

Sanders said he sees a role for himself in rebuilding the Democratic Party — as an independent.

“I think the first thing the Democratic Party's got to do is say to every independent in this country, ‘We want you, come on into the party,' ” he said. “As an independent, I think I can play a very positive role in telling other independents, ‘You may disagree with Democrats on this and that, but come on in and fight it out and play a role in growing the Democratic Party.’ ”
