Fiona Hill, the respected NSC Russia director, leaving the WH. She lasted longer than seemed possible in a difficult job. (In her first mtg with Trump, he berated her after mistaking her for clerical staff.)

Please @AOC do us all a favor and spend just a few minutes learning some actual history. 6 million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. You demean their memory and disgrace yourself with comments like this.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Retweeted Liz Cheney

Hey Rep. Cheney, since you’re so eager to “educate me,” I’m curious:

What do YOU call building mass camps of people being detained without a trial?

How would you dress up DHS’s mass separation of thousands children at the border from their parents?

Trump has signed 110 executive orders in two years, despite the fact that for a majority of that time his party controlled Congress. That’s an average of 55 per year.

Obama signed 276 (less than his predecessor Bush), over the course of 8 years. That’s an average of 35 per year.

SCOOP: Shanahan’s confirmation hearing for defense secretary delayed amid FBI investigation

The US is currently in its longest period without a secretary of defense. Trump's pick to lead the Pentagon had a confirmation hearing scheduled for tomorrow. It was delayed amid questions about his FBI background check

Matthew Miller Retweeted Hunter Walker

I'm confused how 2010 domestic violence allegations could be delaying Shanahan's background check. Presumably they would have been investigated before he was nominated/confirmed as Deputy Secretary...unless he didn't disclose then or there is something new.

DHS is planning to target "families" as part of stepped up effort to deport undocumented immigrants, a senior admin official told me, in response to Trump's tweet last night. But the official said there are "not a lot of happy faces" at DHS, as Trump revealed plans in the works.

The operation will be on a "different scale" than what the public has seen before, the official said. "A broad section of things" is how the official described it.

Scoop: Trump has talked about firing Jerome Powell, a move that would represent an unprecedented challenge to Federal Reserve’s independence. Advisers hope latest bout of anger will dissipate over holidays.

White House explored the legality of *demoting* Fed chair Jerome Powell in February, soon after Trump talked about firing him, sources tell me and @SalehaMohsin.

WH counsel’s office studied whether Powell could be stripped of his chairmanship but remain a board member.

News Trump’s talking of firing chair of independent Fed comes as partial US govt shutdown begins and admin preps to lose trusted defense secretary and WH chief of staff.

Trump’s been far less concerned about blowback over shutdown or Mattis than the economic turmoil, I’m told.

Trump has lost the financial support of one of his biggest backers in 2016: the Mercers, according to Vanity Fair.

"It's like they've disappeared," a former West Wing official added. "Crickets. They're gone," a prominent Republican strategist said.

Lauren Werner 🗽Retweeted POLITICO

Trump's own longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen implicated him in criminal conduct. The SCO issued a report detailing his criminal obstruction. Trump's calls to prosecute his political opponents are often meritless; he & his lapdog Bill Barr have completely politicized the DoJ
