Hi folks! I'm new to the message boards but have been a years-long TCM fan and viewer! I've always loved their visual graphics presentation on TCM and was pleased with the new re-vamped graphics package they rolled out last year. It's groovy!! At least I think so! As an old-time typesetter from the world of graphic production my eye was caught by the neat, Serif font they are using in the titles of actors, hosts and other names on the inter-title cards. Does anyone know what font this is? Can the producers of TCM's graphic department tell us so we're in the know? I'm just very curious. I've attached a sample from a Macy's ad that uses the same font. I have seen it in many ads on TV and in retail (specifically, Macy's ads). Hope I can get to the bottom of this mystery! Thanks! Let's keep movie-ing!

The New Graphic Look of TCM. Or "What's that neat Serif Font they use now?"

Thanks for replying to my message!! I tried the "whatthefont.com" application and came up with TT Ramillas Bold as well, though it could be a version of Americana ....I'm not sure. But Ramillas looks like a winner. I wonder if TCM will corroborate this for us! Thanks so much for answering the mystery of the font! Buying fonts and playing with them is the one thing about my old job that I miss.... probably the only thing! Maybe someone can get me a job at Adobe devising new fonts! I'd love that!!
It's nice to meet you all. I hope I'll find some new friends here who love classic films. I just watched "Laura" again for the umpteenth time in preparation for our Film Club's meeting tomorrow. We will be discussing Dana Andrews and his film noir efforts..... I'll keep you posted on how the meeting goes..... --Jim
