Gene definitely had more power and sex appeal, but Fred had more charm and class. I don't think you can choose. It's like trying to choose between apples and oranges. One day you want an apple, but one the next you prefer an orange. They were both just PERFECT in their own way.

I always felt it was my responsiblilty to make sure my kids had an education in film, just like anything else. They know that there was something before American Pie! They also know that that King Kong is a remake of a remake. The sad truth is that most of the time they like the new stuff better. However, they know who those fine actors and directors were and have an appreciation for classic film. Unfortunately I don't see that a lot. It makes me very sad and I often wonder how long a channel like TCM can stay alive with so much else out there. Truth be told I am amazed at how few people of my own generation ever watch TCM. What's with that? If you showed famous..and I mean Oscar winning actors photos aka 1930's -1950's to a room full of people, I would bet that the only 2 faces that most people would know would be Marilyn Monroe & James Dean.

John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in The Quiet Man. When they are out walking in the field and they get all wet in the rain...the steam is coming off of their clothes!!! Man oh Man. James Stewart & Donna Reed in It's a Wonderful Night, when He is trying so hard Not to kiss her and she is crying...woooww! And who can forget Burton & Taylor in Cleopatra. I know the dialogue was so the lame but their kisses were so hot it should have melted the camera lens!
