I am trying to find the tile of a movie I saw years ago.
A young girl stows away on a ship to be with the man she loves. The ship was carrying items of silks and spices. She climbs in a basket as someone was coming and the ship ends up sinking, and she dies in the basket. They later dive down to the ship wearing original globe like diving gear and find her in the basket. They identify her by the shawl she was wearing. That was the main theme of the movie. Also in it is another young lady, I think the sister of the dead girl, sings songs that are very inappropriate for anyone to sing in public, let alone a woman. A man in the film tries wooing her by moving his dogs mouth and talking in a funny voice.
That is all that I really remember. I am guessing the movie was made in the 1940's it is in color. Any help as to what movie I am thinking of would be truly appreciated.
