  1. Ruth Etting appears in the Vitaphone short, Roseland (1930), and sings a couple songs including ?Let Me Sing And I'm Happy' by Irving Berlin.
  2. Mary, I'm glad you haven't found the button yet! Jeff
  3. Hi Garland, Seems to be a photobucket issue as none of your picture URLs seem to work. snarfster
  4. Mark, There's some problem with the pages refreshing properly and you were most likely seeing older versions of the page. First try hitting F5 or the refresh button in your browser. If this doesn't work go to the forum home such as Hot Topics, General Discussions, etc then click on your thread and messages should display properly. I've addressed this in part down in General Issues. Hope this info's helpful. Jeff
  5. >I pasted in a picture link >and added a break - then >the text after the break actually >held it's formatting where as in the past >it would run on. >This is a nice improvement! If I'm not mistaken it seems that the 'breaks' are no longer necessary - just hit the enter key for a new line as you normally would. This is a huge improvement for those of us who post pictures mixed with text!
  6. I've had no problems. Shouldn't this be in General Issues not General Discussions? Message was edited by: Snarfie
  7. I've seen some huge improvements over the past 24 hours with browsing and the edit function seems to be working fine now. Let's give these guys some credit! And to those declaring this place a ghost town consider that this new software seems to be logging users off every 15-20 min. I'm guessing. Compare this with the old version that left users logged on for, what was it, 8 - 12 hrs? You could actually log off, browse back to the site and still see your name as an online user for hours! Maybe now it could more accurately be tagged active users. So really we're looking at a different guage and trying to compare it to the old one. Maybe they'll change the default logged-on time. I don't know which is more resource heavy, having more people online or more people constantly logging on. We've noticed some improvements and some quirks with the text fomatting. As, I think it was, Kyle mentioned you can insert bullet-points now but they had some kind of problem with the text there also on the Programming Challenge thread. I noticed an improvement today where, for example, I pasted in a picture link and added a break - then the text after the break actually held it's formatting where as in the past it would run on. This is a nice improvement! But the other day on the pre-code gallery with the smaller Bitter Tea of General Yen picture I posted I inserted a break after the picture link then the title of the movie and the year. That text disappeared into the post. I tried once or twice to edit it but still the same result - you could see the space below the picture for the break or the break/ text. So I placed the text above the picture and break and it worked. That was a little weird. Message was edited by: Snarfie
  8. I think I know what causes all the multiple posts: when someone submits a reply, they probably get a "page cannot be displayed" message. Then they go back and submit again, same thing appears, over and over. But more than likely, the message did get through. It's worth opening the thread in another window and checking before re-submitting a reply. That's it exactly. Actually that part of the software seems to be working very quickly and reliably - the post goes through within a second or two. Not arriving at your freshly posted message is the problem. There's either a time-out or you're bounced back to the beginning of the thread. Then there can sometimes still be problems viewing the freshly posted message as the expired page is still visible instead of the new one with the fresh post. As to the multiple posts one can become impatient and click on the post message button several times. This will also result in a post every time you hit the button. Like I said the actual posts go up almost immediately. Message was edited by: Snarfie Message was edited by: Snarfie
  9. Hi Forever Garland! To edit your pictures back in below just add the > character at the end right after .jpg for each picture.
  10. This was actually the same thing that happened to me a couple weeks ago on the Gary Cooper thread.
  11. I was getting the same error page and my posts would not show up even after cleaning out cookies & temp. internet files and opening a new window, etc. Then I replied to the THREAD and not the USER and voila! My other three posts magically showed up. Embarrassing. Message was edited by: Snarfie

  17. A somewhat larger version of a previous post. Dolores, let me know once you've copied it so I can remove it.
  18. Copy 'em now if you want 'em. They might not be here tomorrow.
