Yes, I remember that also, a funny sketch. Father Sarducci asks him what kind of animal would he like to be. Paul answers koala bear. Sarducci says "Yeah, they like to get high on eucalyptus leaves!"
I found the audio. It was a running gag that night with **** standing in front of Paul's building trying to get him to come out and talk. He says to the audience that he learned a trick from rona barrett about throwing rocks at the window. "Worksa every time."
Edit: **** is bad now?
Edit 2: I'm ready to check out of the 21st century. One of us is a little hypersensitive and I don't think it's me.

here is my review for McCartney II, so I have all the McCartney albums done in chronological order
I remember he was on SNL where I think he performed Coming Up, or played the video. It was not long after his bust and jail time in Japan for grass. Don Novello, as Father **** Sarducci, interviewed him and asked questions like, is it easier to write music when your high? Do you get better ideas when your high? Do you get high often? Stuff like that, you get the idea. The gag was Paul trying to get him off the subject of getting high.

This is a good one. Perkins' performance, at times, is a little too on the high end of things. His character is too sure of himself for being new at the job.
That's the confidence of youth.

I definitely was skeptical, because I couldn’t help but hear the bias. It confused me, because the tone of the book didn’t exactly indicate a love for the material he was writing about.
That's pretty much what my prof said. And it's probably what I responded to about Mordden. He appealed to my cynical youth. Or the smart-**** in me at the time.

Read this-it's an excellent book. Several members here have read it & all agree. ISBN: 0679728856, ISBN13: 9780679728856
I buy used through ThriftBooks, who has it for well under $10: ThriftBooks-Genius Of The System
This has been on my bookshelf since the late 90s. I need to dust it off and actually read it. I used to buy second hand books by the half dozen, planning to get to them one day. The days are here.

I pointed out to the poster that if he wants to see a sad ending he should look up Mary Eaton, Barbara Payton, James Murray, or Bobby Driscoll. THEY had sad endings.
Bobby Driscoll's story broke my heart. God rest him.

yes she is cute and sometimes funny
She posts short videos on her instagram profile. Very clever. I think she is going to be well known one day.

An episode of "The Millionaire" was on the TV screen the other morning and I heard a familiar voice. I looked up and thought I was looking at Robert Taylor for a few seconds, but no, it was Rick Jason, years before "Combat." They even sounded alike.

Then I remembered an interview I read of Jackie Gleason where the interviewer mentioned he had seen an early photo of a much slimmer Jackie and thought he looked like Robert Taylor. Jackie said something like, in those days "everybody looked like Robert Taylor."

Yep, and they are fine for over the counter items. It's the prescription pharmacy that is a complete mess mainly because they overwork their pharmacy staff.
Sorry you've had that experience. Maybe try another location. There's probably an equidistant one.

Not if you are practically a monopoly, which CVS is. If my insurance allowed me to go to any other pharmacy in order to get reimbursed, I would never darken CVS' doors again.
I like their nicotine gum. And I can get beer there. And a discount. And a receipt I can use to wipe the beer I spill on the table.

When AOR radio came around on the FM stations (with the jocks who spoke as if they were half stoned? Remember those guys?) and around the time of Physical Graffiti's release, that's when I began seriously building an LP collection. Prior to that I bought 45s and a few LPs, the very first being Don McClean. I did have Elton's first compilation album. At least I think if was his first, with the white suit and cane photo.

With gigantic corporations you can usually be assured of four things: 1. The stockholders are happy. 2. The executives feeding from the corporate trough with oversized salaries and bonuses are happy. 3. The employees are disgruntled. 4. The customers are dissatisfied. See CVS for an object lesson.
I can't imagine many happy stockholders in a corporation whose employees are disgruntled and whose customers are dissatisfied. That is a company going down fast.

Occasionally I see some of it, there is a lot of live action comedy skits and not enough cartoons. I like Saturday mornings better since it is purely cartoons.
I like the interstitials mostly. The guy is a little stiff but the girl, Leila Gorstein, really gets into her characters.

Jim, are you watching Toon In with Me on weekday mornings? I'm enjoying it, when I'm still up at sunrise anyway. Lots of classics.

I was over WINGS At The Speed Of Sound for decades because of that song - more sugar-coated sincerity. Ick. I had listened to the album for months not too long ago. I actually like the Paul not singing songs, and the song I once thought well of "Beware My Love" is indeed overlong. "Silly Love Songs" does have a terrific bass line and has not worn out as much as I'd have expected after all this time. "Let 'Em In" I owned on 45 before the album, still like it.
At the Speed of Sound was actually the only Wings album I ever considered buying. It was heavily promoted. I ultimately passed, probably because I associated it with Top 40 at a time when I was looking to build an album collection. I steered clear of Elton John LPs for the same reason, then years later went back and bought many second-hand. That had been a mistake.

^ I like BOB SEGER.
I saw three Seger shows between 76 and 80 I think, and though I can't recall if he always opened with "Nutbush" I remember it was a highlight. Here's one more from Live Bullet.
So many good recordings from him, but my local classic rock station has ruined Turn the Page and Against the Wind with overplay. I wish they'd go back to these tracks, or even Traveling Man/Beautiful Loser.

Here's a good Friday night song for you, and from a pretty fair rock and roll showman. This one is more fun when you can sing along.
I still remember it was autumn and the moon was shining
Our '60 Cadillac was rolling through Nebraska whining
Doing a hundred twenty, man, the fields was bending over
Heading out for the mountains knowing we was travelling further
All the pipes was blazing and the spinning wheels were turning turning
Had my girl beside me, brother brother, she was burning burning
Up walked a Baptist preaching southern funky school teacher
She had a line on something heavy but we couldn't reach her
We told her that we needed something that would get us going
She pulled out all she had and laid it on the counter showing
All I had to do was lay my money down and pick it up
The cops came busting in and man we lit out in a pickup truck
And go!
Get out of Denver, better go, go
Get out of Denver, better go
Get out of Denver, better go, go
Get out of Denver 'cause you look just like a commie and you might just be a member
Better get out of Denver
Better get out of Denver
Well, red lights were flashing and the sirens were a-screaming screaming
We had to pinch each other just to see if we was dreaming
Made it to Loveland Pass in under less than half an hour
Lord, it started drizzling and it turned into a thundershower
The rain was dropping but the Caddy kept on burning rubber
We kept on driving till we ran into some fog cover
We couldn't see a thing but somehow we just kept on going
We kept on driving all night long and then into the morning
Fog had finally lifted when we looked to see where we was at
We're staring at a Colorado state policeman trooper cat
And go!
Get out of Denver, better go, go
Get out of Denver, better go
Get out of Denver, better go, go
Get out of Denver 'cause you look just like a commie and you might just be a member
Better get out of Denver
Better get out of Denver
Better go, go-

I took a course on 20th Century opera in college and I used Morrden as a source for the term paper. I remember finding his style engaging, humorous, and relied on him a little too heavily. My professor, an opera composer, pointed out my over-reliance and wrote in the margin of my paper, "Ethan Mordden is very biased."
He would have known better than I, since I had never heard of Mordden before, so if he was right, take what you're reading (or hearing) skeptically.

That's what I was listening to and the "bonus" selections were wisely left off of that perfect record.
Put it on the platter, let it play. Turn it over and do it again. Not many records you can do that with. No needle-dropping necessary.

I have an anniversary edition that contains a few extra numbers, "Pure and Easy" being one. I can see why they might have thought it doesn't quite fit the set, but I'm very happy I have it.
One thing that always strikes me about Pete is his gift for getting maximum musical value from the simplest guitar elements. You can have limited guitar experience and still play much of his repertoire.
