  1. Everyone, Hey people a quick reminder, don't forget about *THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE* tonight! One of my all time favorite films! To the best of my knowledge it has only been broadcast one other time on TCM. That was about 3 years ago. I did not see this listed for 31 days of Oscar next month or in early March? I couldn't find any mention of the broadcast elsewhere on the forum. Have no idea why this isn't being shown in Prime-time with as rarely as it is seen?
  2. Yes, the Mack Sennett set, along with the Arbuckle Anthology collections are still in the works. Maybe by the middle of the year we will hear something. Just wish someone was working on a Colleen Moore box set. It's long since overdue. Image Entertainment just re-rleased the Chaplin Mutual's 90th Annivesary DVD's. Originally put out in 2006. They had been out of print for the past couple years. The best and most complete restorations of all 12 Mutual 2 reelers with Carl Davis scores, plus 2 documentaries. Well, worth picking up for all the extra footage that was found. Don't forget THE PENALTY on Sunday hasn't been on TCM in at least 5 or 6 years, and this will be the new restoration that's never been shown before. 3. Yes, of course it is! You got it! Well done. Photo was misidentified as being from THE VIRGINIAN on some sites. Definitely not Walter Huston or Mary Brian.Rather William and Thelma. Coop is obvious. But I would have thought that Powell would have been too?
  4. AndyM108, Incidentally, I failed to mention that THE BLACK BIRD is also now on DVD-R from Warner Archive. it was just released a few months ago.
  5. I knew it immediately. Paulette has a very distinctive face. Here is one. The two guys everyone will likely know right away. But the Gal, maybe not?
  6. Fred, I was going to say Merna, Chaplin's leading lady in THE CIRCUS, but I didn't think that it looked anything like her. However, you are correct.
  7. It's Madge Kennedy. Don't recall the film? Maybe THE COP (1928).
  8. Yes, it is Wallace Beery again. And the movie appears to be THE PONY EXPRESS (1925) Also with Ricardo Cortez, Betty Compson, and George Bancroft. Directed by James Cruze. This picture is not totally lost, but it is woefully incomplete today. Originally 11 reels, only 5 reels are known to exist today from a 1930's British Kodascope Libraries 16 millimeter abridgement.
  9. Scottman, Well, RAMONA (1928) has been restored by the LOC. Hasn't been screened anyplace yet as far as I know, but it's been restored from the Nitrate print found in Prague. This project didn't start until just over a year ago in November of 2011.. BEAU GESTE has been in the works at least another 7 months longer than that at UCLA. Would be nice to know what sort of progress has been made? Would love to see RAMONA at the Festival, though it's highly unlikely. How about something with Colleen Moore? TCM has had 4 Clara Bow films at the festival., including the 2 Fox talkies.
  10. So I mistook Hal Roach for Jack Dempsy, and Constance Talmadge for Renee Adoree? I didn't think it was Renee, but definitely did not recognize her as Constance either. I'm rather embarrassed. Yeah, I noticed Eleanor Boardman way back there, barely visible.
  11. Wow! What a great find. Gilbert is the one laying down. Haven't looked at the list of names yet. Is that Renee Adoree? Possibly Jack Dempsy on the end seated cross legged? I spotted Garbo immediately Irving Thalberg at Norma's feet I think. In front of her.
  12. Whoops, I'm sorry. Obviously I meant Terri Hatcher. From her pre or early Lois and Clark days. Melissa Hatcher is an actress formally of ONE LIFE TO LIVE, now on GENERAL HOSPITAL.
  13. How about a hint here? Sure looks like Melissa Hatcher, but I'm sure that it's not.
  14. No one has answered this one yet. > {quote:title=gagman66 wrote:}{quote}
  15. I hope that they don't run A SONG IS BORN twice back to back. Was anxious to see WONDER MAN. Have not seen it in a long, long time.
  16. slaytonf, Wow! that was quick. Thought I would stump everyone. Yes, it is Marion from her greatest success at MGM. *BEVERLY OF GRAUSTARK (1926).* A film I sure wish that TCM would debut sometime. It's an important picture in her career and a major MGM Silent that hasn't been seen very often.
