  2. nosound, How about THE DAY OF FAITH? A Big Tod Browning film Staring Eleanor Boardman. I have some posters in here someplace.
  3. nosound, Yes, but isn't FAMOUS MONSTERS allegedly held responsible for over-inflating the reputation LAM after this film was deemed lost???
  4. Mike, Alice White was a Smash in the original Silent version of GENTLEMAN PREFER BLONDES that same year, another of the major "Lost Silent's". The only Silent film I have seen her in to date is SWEETHEARTS ON PARADE with Marie Prevost. Made in 1929, but released in both a Silent, and Sound version by Columbia in 1930. Apparently, only the Silent version survives? This is a very funny film! The song SWEETHEARTS ON PARADE was a Number One hit record for Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians in 1929. *Alice White, Just Through The Curtins.*
  5. nosound, Are you talking about FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILM LAND???
  6. nosound, Roy is Alive! So that proves that All Things are possible!!! Now let's get down of the business of finding a copy of FLAMING YOUTH (1923)! As Ed mentioned back in the late 60's, Colleen Moore presented a complete pristine print to some museum someplace. Sadly they did not take care of it, and the film ended up being lost. Just a reel survives at the Library of Congress. An important film, but I would settle for THE PERFECT FLAPPER, NAUGHTY BUT NICE, or THE DESERT FLOWER! They can't all be gone! And what about Corinne Griffith's SEVEN WEEKS, THE OUTCAST, and THE LADY IN ERMINE among others??? Is anyone looking for these films? Or is it only the movies of the better remembered names that people are concerned with??? Hey Roy, I fowarded you a couple E-mails about an hour ago.
  7. Roy, Hey, Your Alive!!! Knowing you heart condition, I had feared the worst! E-mail me if you still have my address? Boy, do I have exciting news for you! Man I am so happy to know that you are still around! Several people wrote you off for dead! I need to return your copy of THE BOOB, which I never did manage to copy myself. I feel bad about still having it, probably almost a year now.
  8. nosound, A story about LAM being found in 1971??? Could you tell us more? At least King Vidor's BARDELYS THE MAGNIFICENT (1926), with John Gilbert, and Eleanor Boardman, has turned up, been restored, and what's more is airing on France 3 tomorrow night! The DVD from Flicker Alley is expected out in March or April of 2009. The very first King Vidor Silent to make it to official DVD. The third reel is missing, but the rest of the film is in-tact. I wish the absent footage would yet be located. What I really want people to come up with are some lost Colleen Moore, and Corinne Griffith features. Is anybody looking??? Warner's will be restoring Colleen's SYNTHETIC SIN, and WHY BE GOOD?. Assuming they don't keep putting off the project to the point that this can no longer be done? They have delayed it each of the past two years. HER WILD OAT (1927) is restored so when are we going to finally see it on TCM???
  9. Kate, You know how much I adore Renee Adoree. So thanks for the link! Here is a superb photo of Lon that I just worked up. It might even be his Dan Tate character from THE BLACK BIRD? I am not sure? *Lon Chaney, Dark And Mysterious*
  10. nosound, My Post on Nitrateville that FORBIDDEN HOURS had been found was not well received at all. Nobody believed it, than they just shrugged the news off. They seemed to have dismissed the idea entirely? I found this very disappointing. In my mind, this story lends increased credibility of Sid Terror's claims this past Summer, regarding LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT/THE HYPNOTIST still being stashed away someplace. I mean in 1965 after the MGM Vault-Fire the original camera Negative to King Vidor's THE BIG PARADE was listed as "Destroyed". Then in 1997, Kevin Brownlow discovered it in-tact in some mis-labeled film-can's purely by accident at George Eastman House. Subsequently, THE BIG PARADE was fully restored in 2004, and we are still waiting for the restored print to air on TCM. Putting this into perspective, it took from 1997 to 2004 before Warner's restored the movie. This is 2008, almost 2009, and no TCM premier of the new restoration let alone a DVD release. Although, again I am told that it will happen in the coming year. They never released the Thames version on DVD, which I hope will be re-mastered, and included, or we will lose the fabulous Carl Davis score.
  11. nosound, Is the film complete? Has it been restored? Do you know? Why is this routinely still referenced as a "Lost Film"??? When I first heard of the movie back in 2003, and even now it is still being described as Lost??? Silent Era.com has FORBIDDEN HOURS as "Status Unknown" so someone should get a hold of these people, and correct them on this matter.
  12. Mike, Wow, A Terrific Photo of Margaret Livingston! I will colorize this one. Although, it looks great as it is now. These are some older assorted photos that for one reason or other I have not posted before. I was not real happy with any of them. *Janet Gaynor, Great Big Hat.* *Renee Adoree, Hands Together.* *Jacqueline Loagan, Perfect Features.* *Corinne Griffith, Vail Of Mystery* *Corinne Griffith, Expensive Robe* *Corinne Griffith, As THE DIVINE LADY.* *Vilma Banky, Anguished Expression.* *Vilma Banky, Statuesque Profile* *Billie Dove, Autographed Portrait* *Betty Compson, Sequined Blouse*

  14. Damfinojr, Actually, Keaton did have an auto-biography. MY WONDERFUL WORLD OF SLAPSTICK. I believe it was published in 1964. Jeffrey Vance also co-authored a fabulous book on Harold Lloyd MASTER COMEDIAN published in 2002. A very impressive volume.
  15. Wendy, Did I already send you an E-mail with the Big News? I don't remember?
  16. Kate, I'll admit a couple of these photos, I have not seen before. In 1995, the old American Movie Classics ran a 24 hour Marathon of Buster for his Centennial. How times have changed , and not for the better. But many of the shorts, and some of the features I saw the for the first time back then. Prior to that, I had seen only a handful of the features and shorts. It was a remarkable event.
  17. calvinnme, Yes, that is who these ladies appear to be alright. Hey, E-mail me I have some really big news that you will definitely want to hear! ugaarte, I just sent you a PM a few minutes ago.
  18. *Colleen Moore, Top Hat And Frills* *Colleen Moore, Starlight Dance* *Colleen Moore, Great Big Enchanting Smile* *Colleen Moore, Gigantic Fan* *Colleen Moore, With Long Hair, and Gypsy Attire* *Colleen Moore, Time For Beddy-Bye!* *Colleen Moore, Joyously Giddy!* *Colleen Moore, Just Toying Around!* *Colleen Moore, 'Oppsie, To Cute Of A Klutz! From IRENE (1926)*

  20. Kate, Film_Fatale I just wish Kino would start releasing some Silent's that they haven't already released before. THE LAST WARNING would be a great one to see restored and put out on official DVD.
  21. *Mary Philbin, Sewing Her Own* *Mary Duncan, Holding Her Own. Whoops, No Straps!*
  22. Who are these Girls on this old 1927 Magazine cover? The one in the middle appears to be Joan Crawford to me. The other two are familiar, but I can't put names to them for some reason. The one the closest to the camera has some really big baby blues! This appears to be a color photo? My best guess is the others are Anita Page, and Bessie Love, but I am not sure? Not used to seeing Bessie as a Brunette, and if it is her, it is not a very good photo.

  25. Karin, For some reason, these last few photos are not visible in the thread? Incidentally, please send me an E-mail won't you???
