Wendy, Yeah, it likely is Charles Farrell from *THE ROUGH RIDERS.* I think a fragment of this film and a Trailer is all that survives today. Here is another young Mary Astor portrait.
-
ugaarate, Yes, it is Louise Fazenda from the early 20's. Hard to believe since she is generally considered rather homely. Though started out as a Mack Sennet Bathing Beauty along with the likes of Marie Prevost and Phyllis Haver. I was talking about the other photo with Renee from a few days ago. Here is a fine close-up of La' Swanson. *Gloria Swanson-"Green Eyed Brunette"* Another Mae Murray portrait. Hope I don't another stupid "Zombie Eyes" remark. I worked on toning down the glare from the eyes for hours. Like it or lump it Miss Milkshake. *"Under Moon Glow"* Here is a rare pic that might surprise you. *John Gilbert and Dolores Del Rio at a Hollywood Dinner Party*

Hey, only the right eye has a problem, and I fully admit to it. The left eye looks fine. The Colleen Moore photo with Curious George is much worse. The Renee Adoree pic I posted the other day, also has one bad eye. In that case it is the softness of the image that caused the issue, because it is difficult to tell exactly where the eyeball is to start with.Notice there are no Zombie Eyes of any sort on the Mary Astor picture with Charles Farrell.

Wendy, Here is one of the Betty Bronson pics you posted last week. It is a cropped image from *RITZY (1927).* Betty looks so very pretty here. Thanks much for the great still. *Betty Bronson-"Legal Advice"* ugaarate, I'm glad you like the Colleen Moore pics. This is a still I worked on awhile ago, but never posted. Mainly because Colleen is so far away, in the distance, as is Gary Cooper. *Lilac Time-"CRASHED!"*

Wendy, Glad you liked the SON OF THE SHEIK still. I kind of expected more people to notice the Anita Page photo with the sheep, because it is sort of a Christmas like scene. This still is a bit of a mystery. Apparently, shows Charles Farrell with Mary Astor. I can't be sure that is Charles Farrell though. It might be mislabeled and actually be Ben Lyon. However, Astor and Farrell did Star together in Victor Flemings lost production of THE ROUGH RIDERS (1927). So maybe that is where it from?

Ed, Could be. The only thing clear is that Murray wore such a Get-Up long before Marlene did in THE BLUE ANGEL. Since so many of Mae's films turned up in that Russian Achive, maybe one of them has this sequence in it? Looks like a lively scene. Here is a Trade Ad for a lost Silent I would like to see. *CHILDREN OF JAZZ (1923)*

Ed, Here's one of the sexiest Colleen Moore photos I've ever seen. I think it is from a 1929 issue of Photoplay advertising the forth-coming FOOTLIGHTS AND FOOLS. Sure wish that wasn't a lost film. I tried shrinking this image, and it just would not shrink. Wendy, Ed, Yes, it is Colleen. Doesn't she look different? The man with her is director Max Scheck, who I'm not sure that I have ever heard of.
-
rayallen, Whoops, I forgot all about that. And here it was just on again the other night. Plus FLAMING YOUTH is my probably number 1 most wanted lost film. I was thinking of the features films I have seen. LITTLE ORPHANT' ANNIE, THE BUSHER, DINTY, THE SKY PILOT, BROKEN HEARTS OF BROADWAY, IRENE, ELLA CINDERS, TWINKLETOES, ORCHIDS AND ERMINE, and LILAC TIME. In none of them does she have a beauty mark. I still have not seen HER WILD OAT and it hasn't premiered on TCM yet. Lo! That still could be from HER WILD OAT? So it might be Colleen after all?
-
No, not Bebe Daniels either.Wouldn't have thought of that. Hopefully, we can get a few others to join the game.
-
Wendy, No, not Mary Astor. Whoops, if you look closely I accidentally gave it away! Phooey!
-
Not sure quite who that is doing the kicking though. This is supposed to be Mary Pickford. Not saying it is, or it isn't her, just need to ask around a little. Don't think I have ever seen Mary with a synthetic beauty spot before. So I am a little uncertain that it is she. Looks more like Colleen Moore to me, but I have never seen her with beauty spot either or in any such a costume. I thought about it possibly being Mary from the sound remake of KIKI. Not convinced though. While I have not seen it, she doesn't wear this getup.

Sure wish this photo wasn't so grainy. Look who's masquerading as a Blonde Bombshell? Can you guess who this is???

First look at the newly restored Two-Color Technicolor (Red And Green), sequence of Buster Keaton's SEVEN CHANCES (1925) on the just released Kino Blu-Ray edition. A huge difference over the faded dye of the past. Was in no hurry to get this, but the still may have changed my mind about that. My favorite Keaton feature. I just got a Blu-ray player a couple weeks ago, but have zero Blu-rays. Pre-ordered the restored WINGS, but that won't be out for about a month and a half yet.
-
Wendy, Yeah, I commented on this in the General Discussions forum. Didn't give the film a very good review. I do think a chunk is missing, and that chunk had more of Renee Adoree. She received second billing but is only in about 4 scenes. I was not at all happy.
-
This a unique still. I wonder what film it could be from? *Mae Murray- "Jazz It Up!"* *Betty Compson-"Extravagantly Attired"* Wendy, You will like this one. Don't know who the ladies are, but they know how to make a Fashion Statement. These fabulous Flappers definitely have style and grace to spare. *"The Beach Pajama Brigade"*
-
Over a month behind, but better late than never.... *Colleen Moore- "Flappers And Broomsticks"* Wendy, This wasn't done by me. I found it on a photo site several months ago. *Gloria Swanson-"Over-Shopped"*

HomesoulM, I'll need to look back, but I think it is the Douglas Fairbanks footage. Before that is Colleen Moore from FLAMING YOUTH, and Clatra Bow from both RED HAIR (Two-Color Technicolor Test Footage), and THREE WEEKENDS. The first footage you see is a few seconds fof Theda Barra from CLEOPATRA (1917), followed by some snipets of Pathe, and Vitagraph short subjects. The Colleen Moore footage from FLAMING YOUTH is on Youtube. So is the Clara Bow footage from the Two films, and the Baby Peggy interview and sequnce from DARLING OF NEW YORK. Or at least it was there the last time I checked anyway. Other portions of Fragments might be posted as well.

filmlover, Hey, I've waited for going on 8 years for the restored version of *THE BIG PARADE* to be released on DVD or at least shown on TCM for the first time. Since 2004 when the project was completed in 35 millimeter. . That's to long. And really I have actually been waiting since long before the restoration was completed going back to 2001-2002 when it was just getting underway. This is not just any Silent Film, it is thee highest grossing, most popular film of the 1920's. For it not to be, never to have been on DVD is completely ridiculous. I personally believe if they put it out as a TCM Vault release and promoted it on the channel, it would sell pretty well. Should have been released a good 5 years ago.

A quick reminder, The Flicker Alley *FRAGMENTS* special if you missed it in April, is re-airing on TCM Silent Sunday Nights this evening. It is really is excellent. A little bit of Clara Bow and Colleen Moore. Including what still survives of FLAMING YOUTH Plus Fairbanks, rare trailers, John Ford's THE VILLAGE BLACKSMITH, Baby Peggy Montgomery, and surviving footage from Emil Jannings Oscar Winning performance in THE WAY OF ALL FLESH. A great program and not available on DVD at this time. You will want to record this isf you haven't already.

Wendy, I spent several hours on the photo and was very unhappy with it. Somehow Alice White's arm gets lost in the background and there is to much intensity and glare. Try as I might I could not bring the arm back. Other than that it looks OK. {font:Elephant}Of course I purloined the term "Unspeakably Fatal" from THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.{font} Here is another shot from the same group of Janet Gaynor Holiday pics as I posted a couple years ago. Had not seen this one before It's one of the best in the series I have seen. *Janet Gaynor-"Joyful Holiday"* Say, this might work as a Holiday entery. Maybe Miss Page is a Christmas Angel? Then again, Maybe not??? *Anita Page-"Taking It On The Lamb"*

Lo! Better hide your wallet. Hearts and Fortunes are up for grabs and there is no doubt that these Dames definitely mean business! *Patsy Ruth Miller And Alice White- "Unspeakably Fatal Flappers!"*
