  1. Posted in ? Forum previously . . . . MOVIE TITLE? PERIOD FRONTIER ROMANCE-YOUNG COUPLE MARRY AGAINST WEALTHY FATHER'S WISHES, MOVE 2 WILDERNESS, SUFFER HARDSHIPS-- BABY COMING-WILL FATHER REACH HOME IN TIME?? ALL'S WELL I'm looking for a title of an old movie that I saw maybe 25 years ago on tv. The movie was probably filmed from the 1930's through the 1960's. The movie probably is set during the 1700's to 1800's. A young couple is wanting to get married, and the girl's wealthy father objects. They do get married and move to the wilderness?, starting their new married lives
  2. Don't the wife spent the night out in the snow. Don't think she was married to a Mountie or soldier, either. From my poor recollection, they were in a cabin instead of a nice home with servants, like in the Howards movie. The time period is from the Revolutionary War or early 1800's, probalby. She's from a well-to-do family and marries a man against her father's wishes. Moves to the wilderness, and makes the best of it. The only other thing I remember is that the baby is coming, and a farmhand is rushing to find her husband way off somewhere--maybe hours or days away. Lo
  3. Just viewed "The Howards of Virginia", and it's not the movie that I'm looking for. Pretty good old movie, except for Cary Grant looking twice the age of the character that he was portraying. His acting was terrible in this movie, which is so unusual for him.
  4. Hi, Jack. Thanks for your help. Here's one review that I read about "Mrs. Mike". This film is based on the novel, Mrs. Mike, which is based on the real life woman, Kathy O'Fallon Flannigan. While it is an adequate film by itself, it sells the story short. It panders to romance and drama, when the book is quite dramatic in its own right. A Boston teenager is sent to live with her uncle in frontier Canada because of her fragile health. She eventually falls in love with own of the few-if only-young, white males in the region. They marry and depart for the northern wilderness to set up
  5. Thanks, Feaito! I sure hope this is it, but from reviews I have read, it didn't really sound like the one that I remembered. Do you recall if the husband is off somewhere, and they are off trying to reach him b4 the baby is born? From what I read, this movie is more about the Revolutionary War and all the goings on. I don't remember any war involvement in the movie that I saw. Regards, Jan
  6. I've checked on the 1945 movie, "The Southerner". A couple of people reviewed "The Southerner" on www.epinions.com. One informs me that there is no wealthy daughter in that movie. Just ordered "The Howards of Virginia". Don't think it's the one, but if it's not, it still has Cary Grant. Thanks, anyway, though. The search goes on. . . .
  7. Frontier Wilderness Romance-Couple Settle in Cabin I'm looking for a movie title of a classic movie that I saw maybe 25 or more years ago on tv. It would probably have been filmed in the 1940's, but could have been in the late 1930's, or 1950's. I only remember a few details of the plot and cannot remember ANY of the actors or characters, which is unusual and makes it so difficult to find the movie title. Do not even recall if the film was in color or black and white. I thought that it was "Drums Along the Mohawk" and purchased it, but it was NOT the movie. It is similar in plot, thoug
