Mae West had a lot of good wisecracks flying off of her lips!

I got into classic movies just by randomly flipping on TCM one day and actually watching a movie all the way through. It was The Awful Truth, with Irene Dunne and Cary Grant(one of my fave screwball comedies now) and since then, I've been hooked.

I am also a lover of classic movies(obviously, since I'm here) and I'm 26 years old. I just recently got into them, probably about 6 months ago, and I would much rather watch a classic than most of what is coming out these days. I'm also new to this message board. It's such a bummer being this young and loving the classics because none of my friends like the movies that I like and there is no one to discuss them with. Anyone else have this problem? I mean, there's nothing like watching a good old Mae West picture and laughing at those lines WITH someone. It's too bad really. If anyone ever wants to chat, please email me!

I know what you mean! I'm 26 and none of my friends like to watch the classics with me. I like them a whole lot better than most of the stuff that comes out these days. The films were just so light-hearted and fun. And it's nice to look back to when times were better, when families were still families and all that. I always get so excited to watch a "new" classic movie or to rewatch an old favorite. Wish I had friends to watch them with...lol!

I am one that can also watch certain films over and over again. For instance, any of The Thin Man pictures, The Awful Truth, My Favorite Wife, Libeled Lady, any Astaire/Rogers picture. They are just so light-hearted and fun to watch. I believe that there is a lot of that missing from movies of the present. Not that I don't enjoy those as well. They are just different. I mean, I could watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind over and over. Or The Big Lebowski. But a little different comedy, you know what I mean? I'm new to this message board by the way. I'm from Northern California, north of Sacramento, so Hi to all
Oh, and I"m obsessed with classics, especially from the 30's and 40's.

If you go to classicmovies.org, they are real good at finding movies for you. There is a fee, but so far he has been able to find all the movies that I have been looking for that are out of print. However, some of them are copies. I don't know if you are looking for an original or not. There are alos a lot of links on that website to sites that have rare movies and whatnot. Good luck and I hope this helps!
