It has to do with the fact that February is TCM's 31 Days of Oscars, more so than politics (and I say that as a Reagan fan). Clark Gable's birthday is February 1 and none of his films will be aired that day. I imagine it's the same for any other star with a Feb. birthday.

Agree completely, Sepiatone! Soaps are total escapism. I like the fact that on soaps, it's common for people to come back from the dead, age 15 years from one episode to the next and a character can be replaced by his "special" identical twin brother, who has a completely different face, voice and height. I don't want to be preached to nor do I always want "gritty realism" in my entertainment. It makes me sad that a genre that's been around since the days of radio will soon be no more. I'll be surprised if General Hospital makes it to its 50th anniversary next year.

Looks like a lot of good films, but I am disappointed that there's not going to be a birthday salute to William Powell on the 29th at this point. (I know it's subject to change)

Actors/Actresses Who IRRITATE You!

But the close-up of the mouth, that has to go, of course, from one yard to the other, has got to be the only reason why men like her. It's embarrassing, and I'm sure men have to be bored w/it by now. Don't forget that annoying cackle of hers. Lay the freaking egg already! -
I've been requesting this film in the "suggest a movie" section for years and am happy that I'll *finally* get to see it. (Thank you, Jeff Stafford!!)

A thousand times YES!!!! The more pre-codes, the better. -
Agree completely! In fact, I'd love to see a month focusing on pre-code films.

I was disappointed that they didn't release one in March (when the FH set usually comes out). Hopefully, they'll release vol. 4 soon - especially since TCM showed "The Story of Temple Drake" at the film festival this year. I'm hoping it would be on the next set. (if not, I REALLY wish they'd show TSOTD on TCM soon) Edited by: Kellykoop on Aug 24, 2010 10:28 AM

Is anyone watching Marie Dressler today?
Kellykoop replied to Jenetico's topic in General Discussions
I haven't watched any of them yet, but since I'm working today, I've had a couple of VCRs recording everything that I don't already have. While I'm looking forward to seeing all of them, I haven't seen Tillie's Punctured Romance and am looking forward to seeing her with Chaplin. Message was edited by: Kellykoop
