One night I turned on the set about 2 wks ago to TCM and saw this silent movie. Didn't pay attention to it much but it was basically about the **** being heros and obvious white people painting their faces brown/black and blantant racism. The thing went on forever. however, since i was too busy housecleaning wonder if they are playing this on TCM ever again. It seemed to be a never ending movie that wore you out there was so much action here, so much action there, it can make you exhausted. I would like to see it in its entirety. On the other channel I learned this movie was completely scandalous.

Not around anymore unfortunately. Its too bad but I believe the reason is that there is overkill of actors and actresses and no one really gets to be in movies all that much. Can you imagine a modern actor getting into nearly 200 or maybe even more movies like John Wayne? Robert Mitchum was in approximately 130 movies/tv specials in his life. I can't imagine Brad Pitt or Leo Dicaprio getting these numbers.

I just turned 41 last March and am new to this board. I love old movies. My late g-ma was WWII generation and she always watched movies on the weekends that were Jerry Lewis which I loved to watch, especially the Disorderly Orderly. However lost interest in movies in general until 2002 when I got a 6 pk of Marilyn Monroe VHSs over ebay and watched "River of No Return" and checked out Robert Mitchum (wow what a hunk) then started becoming a fan of his and now have over 30 some of his movies (I have a way to go he did have over 100 tv and movie specials). However, I do love TCM it makes me happy to see actually dialogue in movies instead of just special effects and no storyline. It seems to me all the actors and actresses that were before say the 1980s were so handsome and beautiful. There is no way any actress today is more gorgeous than Liz Taylor was or as suave as Cary Grant.

female
Marilyn Monroe
Liz Taylor
Barb Stanwyck
male
Robert Mitchum
Clark Gable
Jimmy Stewart
There are too many to name and basically the only ones I like, save Tom Hanks, were 1980s and earlier.

I don't like Jennifer Lopez. She cannot act at all. There are plenty of silver screen old time actors that were excellent actors and got 1/1000s of what she makes for one movie with no ability to act.
I also think Julia Roberts is way overrated. She just isn't any good. Erin Brokovich movie was a joke. She was good in pretty woman but that is about it. give me ava gardner, shelley winters, robert mitchum, clark gable, and cary grant any day of the week over these new actors that need to go to acting school

I'd say "Breakfast at Tiffanys", I like the lounge music in it - Henry Mancini at his best.
