  1. This thread will be for posting pictures of STARS! They can be stars with other stars or single portraits. But, be sure to name the star. Even though you might think everyone knows, someone out there won't! So, enjoy the view, and feel free to post if you like (And, of course it is ok to repeat a star more than once!). GM
  2. "Could we try to remember that we are hardly commercial travelers! It's bad enough we have to associate with these tourists on board without having to go ashore with them! You have all the vigor of a typical American tourist! Charlotte, sit down and write something to someone! For the last three days you've been behaving like an excited servant girl!" (Gladys Cooper, Now, Voyager)
  3. Yep, that's Lana. I always liked Lana. Ava always said Lana taught her how to be a STAR! Lana was a great star! I also think she wasn't a bad actress.
  4. Ha! Looks like between Garland and Turner to me!! But, seriously folks, I found this just as it is on one of the Hedy sites on the net! And, I agree, seeing that I thought Garland was very pretty, and, Garbo, the ultimate!
  5. Ok, let's go back to Lamarr! Older and lovelier!
  6. Oh, that's ok, CB! Everyone has her/his own opinion. I am just shooting the photos out there for comments, so say what you feel. I was just happy to get four from the same sitting! Well, I am between classes, and am heading back. Later.
  7. All of the pictures below were taken for Inspiration with Robert Montgomery.
  8. Ha! Oh, Jack, you're right. But, I did find it funny that this piece, which was supposedly made in the Thirties, looked so much like Garbo in Romance. I saw it on ebay and had to copy the picture. It is Dresden.
  9. Another of my favorite warm directors is Von Sternberg. His films were always so rich and shadowy, what I like to call "warm." Also, Hitchcock's Suspicion is another warm film, lots of shadows and rich black and white tones. But, Hitchcock, could be cold as well. I didn't care much for the coldness I felt in Foreign Correspondent. Everyone seems to love that film, but is was not a warm film as far as I am concerned. It seemed hollow at times, and the photography was just not as rich as some others I have seen of Hitchcock's. I guess what I am trying to say, and pretty badly, is that sometimes I can tell they are in a studio, or it sounds a little tinny. Then, sometimes I feel like I am actually there in the room. It feels so warm and comfortable, I sometimes forget I am watching a film. The worst "cold" film I have ever seen is Faces, I think that is the name, by, I think, Peter Bogdonavich. It was on last month or before that. It starred Gena Rowlands. I just couldn't bear to watch it. It was just horribly filmed. I suppose it was done for realism, but for me it was just poorly presented. Maybe they were on a budget?
  10. Yup! I love it! It was on again the other night, and I watched it again! I never get tired of watching it; although, a few months have to pass in between viewings! It is great, with a great cast and beautiful photography!
  11. Oh, yeah! Silly me! It is stamped Hollywood! Duh! Hey, that is a good idea. I did think of it before, though, but I didn't know if I should do it or not. I thought of it as kind of a GALLERY of stars. You know just pics, not too much info. But, ofcourse it will become whatever it becomes! Ha! That is the beauty of these threads. They always go in ways you don't predict! Ok, later I will run that thread, and I will start with a picture of Warren to get it going. And, NO, I don't mind you copying the pics! I assumed you would! Ha!
  12. He is so young here, and he looks kinda "dreamy." But, don't you think it is too young for Hollywood?
