  1. You'd be a big it anywhere in that! Ha! And, it would certainly be conversation starter! Probably like, "Are you going to a costume party?"
  2. See, CB! It's not that we did't notice you were gone, its just that, at the present, there are just too many to keep track off. But, you are one we did notice! And, more than one of us is glad you're back! And, now back to Garbo and Lamarr!
  3. Great story, Jack! Funny thing, I saw her there in the Venetian Room at the Fairmont! I was in one of those audiences. I missed Ella, shoot! Nice to know, these many years later, what else went on. It was one of the thrills of my life.
  4. Oh, my gosh! That's right! He is another wonderful player that is missing from the boards. See, there are so many, it is almost impossible to remember everyone.
  5. Not a clue! Who is it? I know I am gonna hate myself, but tell me, please!
  6. Oh, my gosh! Don't get me started on Marlene! I have four top favorite stars: Garbo, Harlow, Lamarr, and DIETRICH! I have been crazy about her since I first saw her in FLame of New Orleans! Then, I discovered Von Sternberg and Dietrich! First I saw Morroco, then The Scarlett Empress, then one by one I saw all of the team's films. There was certainly a change in her after he left her. As so many write, she became more approachable and human. And, I like that, but I really love the untouchable goddess of the thirties! That is why I love Garbo and Lamarr. Harlow, to me, was a buddy. She would have made a great pal! But, Dietrich was to be adored! And, I do!
  7. Well, you know Larry and ken, they should have started this years ago! They can't very well give seven people an honorary Oscar at the same time, it would certainly lessen their achievements and importance. On the other hand, they can't wait to give it to them one at a time cause most of them are close to death! But, I agree something should be done, especially in Lena's case. She certainly deserves recognition since she was the ONLY glamorous, slim black actress recognize by the world! Everyone knows Lena, or should. As for Maureen, I certainly think she deserves recognition, too! From Jamaica Inn to whatever her last film was, she was an astounding contribution to film! As for Doris, she is long over due! Her fans have been shouting this out for years!
  8. Great job, mongo! At least we and TCM can give him some fanfare!!
  9. Oh, Larry! What a HOOT you are! Ha! That was from Romance, her second talkie. And, yes, Adrian designed it! That's the one where she plays the Italian movie star with and Italian/Swedish accent. It is my FAVORITE Garbo film, a melodramatic pull at the heart strings. If you haven't seen it, you must! She got her second Oscar nomination (her first was Anna Christie). I think it was a double nomination for both, then came Camille and Ninotchka, cause the books always say she was nominated three times, but actually it was four. And, she never won @%#&*#@!!!!! But, she was in Grand Hotel, and that won best picture, so her place in Academy history is secure.
  10. Hear, hear to that! And, now back to Maureen!
  11. Now, that is not TRUE! Ken said he noticed you were back, and that means he knew you were gone! Silly! And, you know it is hard to know who left if it wasn't announced or discussed. All I know is that there are PLENTY of people missing, and I wish they would return now. I THINK all is well.
  12. Ha, Larry! You're so funny. Well, enjoy it, and the rest of us can live vicariously through your adventures!! Yes, I was attacked again, well actually the whole board was, last Friday night. HE came back and wrote discusting things, including threats and PICTURES! There was a guy named the Riddler who came on my thread to fight him. I guess HE provokes people into that. Anyway, it kinda seemed like this Riddler was just another Alter-Ego, but turns out he is just a college student (I guess college, cause he works, too), so I guess he is ok. Anyway, TCM came and cleaned up the boards including my thread, so you missed all of the really juicy stuff, but consider yourself lucky. It was very stressful for many of us. If you read in General Issues, TCM came out and apologied to everyone for the distressing episode and gave their word to try to keep an eye on it and stop any further disturbances, so we are all kinda calming down now. Have fun getting your a** kissed! And, kiss one for me!
  13. Hey, Larry. Haven't posted yet on this thread, but I wanted you to know how much I enjoy it. Love to read about royalty! And, Russia was one of the countries with the most fascinating royals! You are continuing that interest, along with the food and travel log! Thanks!
  14. Gee, I am shocked to hear about Edward Albert going without a word! His father must have been so proud of him, and he was very good as an actor in anything he did. I enjoyed him and am sorry to hear about his passing.
  15. Yeah! That second one is HOT, HOT, HOT! Smoldering appeal!
  16. Hey, ken. Last night Cinemabuff came back! She returned on my Garbo/Lamarr thread asking for more Maureen Pics, Ha! So, I told her to come over here!
  17. Below is HEDY LAMARR/HEDY KIESLER on a rare 1939 Czech Magazine.
  18. HEY, CB! Long time no hear, and I DON'T wonder why. I came back a little too soon, myself. But, actually I don't think it would have mattered when I came back. Things have changed, as they ALWAYS do! There are so many people gone and the "feeling" of the boards is just a little different. Anyway, WELCOME BACK. I am sorry I still can't stay up late and chat. But, its ok, this is a great way to communicate. But, if you want more Maureen, you will have to go over to Hail to O'Hara! Ha! Later.
