  3. Margaux Hemingway, the daughter of Ernest Hemingway's eldest son, became a sensation in the mid-1970s. She modeled and acted, but the turning point of her movie career was her debut film, the 1975 drama "Lipstick." She played a model determined to avenge herself against a rapist who later assaulted her younger sister. The sibling was played by Hemingway's 14-year-old sister Mariel. It was Mariel, also a first-time actress, who was praised by critics and nominated for a Golden Globe as New Star of the Year (Female). Mariel's film career took off, and she received an Academy Award nomination in 1980 for her performance in Woody Allen's 1979 comedy/drama "Manhattan." Margaux's life took a different direction. She apparently inherited the Hemingway family's predilection for substance abuse and its struggles with mental distress. On July 1, 1996 -- almost 35 years to the day on which her grandfather killed himself -- she was found dead of a massive drug overdose. Her death was ruled a suicide. She was 42 years old. `

  12. Writer-director Aaron Sorkin's "The Trial of the Chicago 7" -- the true story of the U.S. government's prosecution of anti-war protestors at the 1968 Democratic National Convention -- received the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 27th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Since the SAG Awards do not recognize directors or producers, the motion picture ensemble award is viewed as the organization's top film honor. The award was accepted virtually at the pre-taped ceremony by the actor Frank Langella, who portrayed the trial's antagonistic judge Julius J. Hoffman. "God give us leaders," said Langella, quoting the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the civil rights leader who was assassinated on April 4, 1968. "Aaron Sorkin was determined to tell their story, and his loving and respectful direction transformed a group of disparate actors into an ensemble," Langella said. "Reverend King was right, we need leaders to guide us toward hating each other less. We owe a debt of thanks to the voices of the Chicago 7, and most especially, Aaron Sorkin, our leader, whose voice is the soul of this movie." Michael Keaton, who portrayed former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark in the film, set a record by becoming the first performer to win three film ensemble awards. He previously won in 2015 and 2016 for the respective movies "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" and "Spotlight." Meanwhile, all four acting awards were won for the first time by persons of color. The award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role was issued posthumously to Chadwick Boseman for his work in "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom." His co-star Viola Davis won the Female Actor award, making her the first woman to win two. She previously won for "The Help" in 2012. The award for Male Actor in a Supporting Role went to Britain's Daniel Kaluuya for his portrayal of the doomed Black Panther leader Fred Hampton in "Judas and the Black Messiah." And the Female Actor in a Supporting Role award was voted to the 73-year-old South Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung for her performance in the drama "Minari."
