Thank you, so much, route 66. I think the last time I searched for it was spring break of 08, and gave up.

I can't wait for *The Major and The Minor* to be released, either. It's one of my favorites! There were several "fine little social" parameters that were deftly sidestepped by Ray Milland, Ginger Rogers, and Billy Wilder. It garnered one of Robert Benchley's smarmiest soibourbonites and Diana Lynn's great moments on film as Pamela's little sis. When Benchley's character queries Miss Applegate from Revigora with... "Why don't you slip out of those wet clothes into a dry martini?" ...it was a major ha-ha in my minor adolescence. Milland's innocence and Rogers' streetwise banter made it crisp conversation for the times.. The first time I saw that movie, I also chuckled at Su-Su's resourcefulness in the ladies' room of the bus station as she snipped off the turtleneck's sleeves to make a pair of socks. And how could you not enjoy the moment when it was revealed that all students from Miss Shackleford's School for Young Ladies all sported a Veronica Lake "do"? Such a social commentary on how all of us popcorn crunchers are influenced by Hollywood styles and fashions.

I'm one of Ben Johnson's legions of fans here in Texas! I think he also had a good role in the oft-maligned *The Undefeated* with John Wayne, Rock Hudson, Lee Meriwether, Merlin Olsen, and Roman Gabriel, in Victor McLaglen's film, which also showcased Paul Fix, Dub Taylor, Big John Hamilton, Harry Carey, Jr., Bruce Cabot, Pedro Armendariz, James McEachin, Henry Beckman, Royal Dano, and John Agar! Johnson had one of those sage-o-the-prairie roles with salty wisdom and a twinkle in his eye.

I like *Moon Over Parador*, too. Unfortunately, I know all too well the twists and turns of Banana Republic Justice, and it was an amusing, probably underrated parody.

In addition to perusing *The Devil and Daniel Webster* as Kyle so succintly noted, a devoted TCM viewer might also want to revisit the Kirk Douglas media speech as George Phipps in *A Letter to Three Wives*. During its release, it had more to do with radio, film, and selling soap, but the phrases can aptly be turned to cable, film, the music industry, and choosing the proper cell phone to fit your lifestyle.

I agree with you, fxreyman. An excellent post, Lynn. Thank you for your insight and common-sense approach. TCM has generated interest and respect for classic film and has thankfully refrained from commercially interrupting the narrative, a procedure that other cable entities might imitate if they were seriously interested in product loyalty.

Dear Metsfan, I am so glad someone else was able to enjoy *Florida Straits*. Antonio Fargas,"Huggy Bear" on Starsky and Hutch, had a menacingly unforgettable role as El Gato Negro, The Black Cat. Raul Julia played a former Army officer jailed during the Bay of Pigs debacle, and his release set the plot in motion as he lured Fred Ward and his sidekick back to Cuba in a boat not fit to bass fish in the Sabine River to hunt for Batista's Gold. The most dramatic moments for me occured when Julia put on his pristinely pressed white suit in order to track down his true love, Carmen. Julia's character reads and reveres Cervantes' *Don* *Quijote* so the viewer knows from then on its a race to the gal for Julia and a quest for the gold for Ward and his sidekick. It was just one of those rich stories lurking around the mysteries surrounding Cuba, falsely imprisoned Castro Contras, and hidden treasures.

I'm right with you, Fred, on *LONE STAR*. It is an entertaining, on-the-edge of your popcorn kind of film.

If you have never seen Raul Julia in the HBO movie *Florida Straits* you are missing something. He was at his most divine hunting with Fred Ward in Castro's Cuba while looking for Batista's treasure. He had some stunning moments in that film. I certainly agree that MORE RAUL is warranted, and much better than NO RAUL.

I would love to see *Like Water for Chocolate*. It was a great book, and the movie has that magical realism scenario which is representative of a popular genre.

Thanks for the info on the download, Fred. I have just seen it, found it enjoyable and informative, especially concerning Robert Osborne's connection to the film community at large, his own personal background, how he prepares for different Oscar functions, his relationship with Lucille Ball, his enthusiasm for writing about film, and his continued interest in critical analysis of new movies. I was also encouraged by the variety of posters who had submitted questions and whose questions had been accepted and responded to in such a professional manner. For all of us who so thoroughly revere Turner Classic Movies, Osborne is a hard-working, personable film lover who has been lucky enough to pursue some of his dreams. His comment concerning the Best Song category and time for change concerning its importance in the pantheon of Oscar nominations and awards is certainly warranted. Miss Elizabeth Taylor would be well-received in a Private Screenings Session. TCM viewers could also hear Osborne and Taylor reminisce about their night at the Oscars. We want more webcasts, of course!
