  1. 150 or so 3-page essays eight times a semester equals.... man, math just ain't my thing....a small paycheck!
  2. I enjoyed the photos and posters so much! Thanks, bhf! That is one of the most beautiful photos of Judy that I've ever seen in DER PIRAT. Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  3. On target, hlywdkjk. I have a master's degree in English. All it has brought me is bad eyesight and the right to back you up right here!
  4. Maybe I should take it to the Cockamamie thread... Hey, that's usually my line...but, go ahead. Plagiarism, schmagiarism....
  5. Those are some of my top faves, Baker. I would add Stalag 17, and The Major and the Minor, Billy WIlder's directorial debut in a romantic comedy that also unleashes a bit of WWII propaganda but with a smile. Also, Fred, I'm glad to see you added Miracle of the Bells. hlywdkjk - Shadow of a Doubt, for sure! Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  6. Thanks for the links, hlywdkjk. Do you know if any of the canines in Dogville comedies were harmed during production? I hope not.
  7. I don't foresee ditching TCM in the near future. Thanks for the jewels post, Mongo!
  8. Sorry, Kyle. Now everybody knows I love them. The cat is out of the DVD box.... Thanks, Dimitrios, for the link.
  9. Paul Douglas could do anything and make it look like a smooth move.
  10. 300 is all the rage with the generation that grew up with full-throttle video games. Even though I haven't seen it, I have seen theatrical previews, and the preview I saw seemed like an adult video computer-generated aniimation fest. Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  11. Well, as much as I enjoy Mike Connors, he was not John Carradine, either. Miss Trevor, however, gave much more depth to the role than we ever saw in the remake. And I don't recall the screenplay giving Ann-Margret that much opportunity to emote. It seemed much more a sex-kitten reactionary role. The star part in the remake, however, all kudos intended, go to Der Bingle. Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  12. When I'm not gallavantin', I am definitely a lollygagger!
  13. The repartee is sharp and I enjoyed how Grant and Russell would overplay on each other's lines in His Girl Friday. Plus I loved her hat and suit. Ralph Bellamy made it possible for some of the fun, though, with his innocence. One comedy I enjoyed that I don't believe any one else mentioned was Dear Ruth with WIlliam Holden and Joan Caulfied.
  14. I agree. There was so much to enjoy in this film. It was progressive in several ways, and your post brings up many salient points...
  15. Great shot! Excellent point. I love your posts!
  16. I loved watching Spencer Tracy watching everyone while they were digging... classic Tracy.....
  17. Thanks for the clarification, lzcutter. These are excellent points, many of which I was completely unaware of as a regular reader and sometimes poster on these boards.
  18. What a great photo! I love the full shot on the horse...
  19. Cute, Moira. I would dearly love a boxed set of his best efforts. (But, they're all good!) He does look like he's seeking diving guidance in the pic. A sweet, cuddly guy.
  20. This film awakened so many responses in me to the small orbit I inhabited. It became part of my moral fiber, and part of my daily human condition. The book, the movie, and the on-screen portrayals will always roam around somewhere in my gravitational center. I hear that music and those words hearkening back and I'm there.
  21. Diana, good tidbit about Rhubarb. Moira, excellent comments about the Darnell/Douglas periodic table of elements. What a great gal to compile all the DVD and VHS docs! I love this thread.
  22. Thanks for all the Betty Hutton photos!
