  1. She was 86 when she passed away in March of this year.
  2. I also believe Lizabeth Scott was under-appreciated.
  3. Moira, great background information and observations about Ladd and Frank Faylen, a great character actor. Thanks for such a smooth read that revealed so much about a movie I haven't seen in ages.
  4. I am enjoying your daily recap on the Big Valley and the Rifleman. I had a crush on Richard Long and Chuck Connors ( if I can make myself forget his stint as Buck Hannassey in The Big Country cuz he was just so nasty in that film).
  5. I never knew that info about the Shane sodbuster's daughter romance, Mike BSG. What an interesting angle! Wish it had been allowed to play out onscreen. Great photos, Miss G.
  6. This was a fascinating read. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I always remember The Virginian as having those well-developed character roles and story lines.
  7. From what I've read, he was a gentleman. Thanks for all the great photos, mongo!
  8. I was in my 40's orbit. Sue Sue so sorry. I hit the edit button! Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  9. Ditto. Good choices. Except I would probably leave Frankie out, put in Katharine Hepburn, Jane Russell, Jane Greer, Agnes Moorehead, Vic Morrow, Deborah Kerr, Cary Grant, and Robert Mitchum. There just had to be some fun there, somewhere! I didn't think Ava left too many crumbs, though.... Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  10. Lordy. What a great shot of John Payne... If nobody wants to take him home after the fight, I'll volunteer. Are we going to rename this the Naughty Thread, Larry?
  11. I remember the feud one. Funnnnneeee!
  12. The List of Adrian Messenger was one of my favorites. I saw it while I was young and can remember it being a very scary movie for me. But at the end, I was so surprised at who everybody was and what they really looked like...
  13. This movie was a joy. Hackett, Elam, and Garner made it lovable, funny, and endearing.
  14. I truly adored Ben Johnson in all his roles I've seen. For some reason, I am partial to his character in The Undefeated. For me, he was the sage of the trail ride in that one. When Wayne's character is dismayed that his Indian stepson has runaway with a beautiful gal in the midst of trouble with the Juariztas and the French, Johnson's character is the only one who knows how to soothe the Duke's ruffled feathers: No, he wouldn't do that, John Henry.
  15. Good Point, Lydia221. I lived in Tampa, Florida in the mid-sixties, and we always had two major worries - where do we evacuate to in the even of a hurricane, and where do we go if Castro invades....
  16. Excellent commentary, lzcutter. I always remember some of Jimmy Stewart's first cowboy films and compare it to one of his last - The Cheyenne Social Club. To me, that spans a great deal of change in our perceptions of the genre.
  17. I loved her in The Three Caballeros. Not many folks realized it was Carmen's sister! I used to show this as a video for my students and many went away humming or trying to sing that Portuguese number. Message was edited by: SueSueApplegate
  18. Don't forget I love to sing-a!
  19. I never knew Robert Goulet was even considered. I'll have to check out the Presnell appearances, thanks.
  20. Good point, PFriedman. Great background info, johnm. I was making a joke, Cinemascope. VEHICLE= ROLLS ROYCE I am sorry you didn't get it.
