Robert Osborne's article about December Star of the Month Barbara Stanwyck discusses the first time he ever met the popular star: http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article/553882|0/Robert-Osborne-on-Barbara-Stanwyck.html
It was almost like a Billy Wilder "cute meet!"

Thanks for posting this wonderful news, RMeingast!
And clore, that was such a wonderful, touching story about George Raft and William Holden. Thanks for sharing it! Maybe we will get to see that episode replayed right before one of Raft's or Holden's films.

I am a Ding Dong girl, myself.

Welcome back, Butterscotch!

Bronxie, pure gold. I have never seen Lurene Tuttle scream like that!
Loved your turkey Jacques.

Thanks for sharing such an interesting film fact, finance. Dana Andrews was wonderful in that film, and I hadn't realized he had more screen time than the other members of that talented ensemble cast.
I can't wait for the Q & A at The Silver Screen Oasis.
-
Agreed! And if Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif appear at the opening night gala for *Funny Girl* , Spotlight passholders won't be disappointed if they attend the *Vanity Fair* party, too. Maybe this year photos of the *Vanity Fair* party might actually be showcased in *Vanity Fair* magazine.
I hope James Brolin shows up, too!

And as long as we are speculating about Barbra Streisand's appearance at the Turner Classic Film Festival 2013, passholders might want to read James Grissom's pre-publication blog entry for November 13, *Follies of God.* Tennesse Williams waxes and wanes about Streisand's artistry and talent, and the implications and responsibility of the truly gifted: http://jamesgrissom.blogspot.com/

Just found out that all the Spotlight passes are sold out!

Me, too! Another fabulous guest, Moira!

I took it last night. It just made me realize how important a demographic we TCM audience members are.
-
David, don't get me started on the "virtues" of the drugstore cowboy. I might never come back to the topic of the thread, our hallowed Turner Classic Movies Film Festival...I predict someone will start a new thread. Oops. No politics, please!

-
Dawn, it will be so great to see you again! Thanks for the good news!

I like the fact that there is a petition to revoke the citizenship of everyone who signs a petition to secede. This is obviously a "Hot Topic" among the government and history professors where I teach.

Well, Kyle, you have an excellent point, there. It is indeed part of our Texas Constitution, but I think there are some folks who are about 150 years too late. And with our booming job market, and large industrial complexes, I don't think Uncle Sam wants to part with us just yet.
As for the California tourist visa/LA passport, I am well aware of the California cash crunch. The bite out of my budget increases every time I step over the state line!
In the meantime, if you know any legislators who can help facilitate my travel plans, I will indeed be grateful.

-
Kyle, just wanted to clarify for those folks interested in purchasing a pass today that passes can be purchased with any credit card or bank card, as well as the Citibank card.
The possible private event, however, and the "collectible gift" may only be for those attendees who purchased their pass with a Citibank card,
-
Passes can be purchased by following this link: http://www.citiprivatepass.com/landing/tcm_classic_film_festival.html
You do not need a CitiCard to purchase a pass.
See Kyle's new thread for more information about the CitiCard perks: http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=167158&tstart=0

I would love for Olivia to be at the festival this year. It would be fantastic!
-
It was wonderful to see Olivia De Havilland on 60 Minutes tonight. If you haven't seen it yet, don't miss it. It's during Morley Safer's second installment of his interview with author David McCullough.
McCullough asks De Havilland what brought her to Paris, and she smiles and says so coyly, "A Frenchman!"
-
Olivia De Havilland looked fabulous for 96. She was visiting with author David McCullough on Morley Safer's second segment with the writer in Paris. McCullough asked Ms. De Havilland what brought her to France, and she replied, "A Frenchman!"

Having Carl Reiner introduce *The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming* would be a delight! And *On The Town* would definitely qualify for a cinematic journey. :-)
-
Thanks for the reminder, Kyle!
And for previous passholders who have or apply for a CitiCard, the presale starts Tuesday, November 13, at 10 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. Thursday, November 15. (ET) There is at least a $15 fee that TCM does not charge, however. ( FYI: I do know of a few previous TCMFF attendees who are taking advantage of this offer.)
For everybody else, passes go on sale at 12 Noon, Thursday, November 15!

Great suggestion, dear Kyle!

Excellent point, lzcutter. Then the adorable Bill Wellman, Jr. *COULD* talk about it in his dulcet tones. The actual DC-4 used in the film actually had its own interesting history, as well as the determination of the final onscreen cast. Here's hoping!
As a lighthearted companion piece, *Dear Ruth (1947)* with William Holden and Joan Caulfield would be perfect. The Ernest Gann screenplay of *The High and The Mighty* and Norman Krasna's play converted to the screen by Arthur Sheekman for *Dear Ruth* are great contrast pieces about World War II.

That is a lovely book jacket, Bronxie. So inviting! I can picture myself sitting on a veranda, sipping something cool and waving to the sailboats as they drift by.....
