So true, Bronxie! One day....I just know we will all traverse in tandem and in glorious Technicolor, and in style!

I can remember watching *Tarzan and the Amazons* with great anticipation. Maybe it was that I was only 11 and kept hearing the word Amazon crop up in conversations having to do with my height. Maybe it was that I so enjoyed all the Tarzan movies, and Edgar Rice Burroughs' stories and novels.
But I do remember being spellbound by Maria Ouspenskaya and waiting for her to pronounce that all would be spared. (I am watching her right now.) She looked so Egyptian in her frock and headdress, but ultimately superior to all she surveyed. I can remember sitting in front of the massive television set, wanted to wear leopard skins, carry a spear, and organize all those gold bracelets on my arms for dramatic effect.
And everytime Johnny Sheffield would be in trouble, it would make me tear up. He was so cute and adorable. How could anything evil befall such an unpretentious lad?

But the highlight of all this Saturday devotion occurred in 1962 when I met Johnny Weissmuller in New Orleans. He was elegantly decked out in his Jungle Jim attire, a leopard-skin accent on his wide-brimmed hat, and was shaking hands, visiting with children, and signing autographs. I remember him taking out the huge, shiny knife and telling us that even thought it was pretty and shiny, that we should never use a knife like this unless our parents were with us because it was so dangerous. He was kind to the children and adults who had come to pay homage to one of our favorite screen heroes, and he was smiling and laughing. That's how I will always remember him!

I am thoroughly enjoying this Saturday's TCM lineup. Maybe a classic Tarzan film will be on the schedule at the next TCM Film Festival!

O.K. Here is the tour I want to take next spring:
-
It's lovely! I can definitely envision quiet afternoons in the garden, cozy aperitifs in front of the fireplace, wooden-beamed delights of high-ceilinged dreams, and nooks galore for contemplating the muse!
-
Thank you, clore. That is a lovely interview.
Mr. Miller was also able to work with directors George Cukor, Sidney Poitier, Sydney Pollack, and many others. As an MGM contract player, he enjoyed many professional associations with actors, directors, and technicians from the classic era.
-
Thanks, clore.
Mr. Miller also appeared in one of the more poignant episodes of *Gunsmoke* in 1971, portraying a deaf man who rescues a little girl, played by a pre- Happy Days' Erin Moran, who has fallen into a water well full of snakes.
Miller's character "Lijah" was one of his favorite roles, and the chapter in his autobiograpy, *Didn't You Used To Be What's His Name?,* detailing delicate, dangerous work with snake handlers and descending into an old well to save the young girl is fascinating reading.
-
Responding negatively or speaking in a derogatory manner about professional colleagues or fictional rivals is uncharacteristic of Mr. Miller.
-
After appearing in more than 230 episodes of popular television programs like *Wagon Train, The Rockford Files, Lonesome Dove-The Series, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Gunsmoke, Gilligan's Island, Dallas, Magnum PI, Murder, She Wrote, Charlie's Angels, Hart to Hart,* and 20 feature films including *Tarzan, The Ape Man*, Denny Miller is always grateful to his many fans, and feels that every time someone tells him how much they enjoyed his screen performances, it's like listening to delayed applause.
Denny Miller is our guest actor and author on The Silver Screen Oasis this weekend, and if you would like to read the Q & A for his visit, follow this link: http://silverscreenoasis.com/oasis3/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=5858

Wow! What a view!
The following looks just like a place I visited last year in the Hill Country near New Braunfels, and I think it's just perfect for 'lil ole me! (It's in Umbria, however. Do forgive....)

The Q & A with Steve Bingen is so informative! I am really enjoying all his comments. Thanks for the link, Moira!
I sincerely hope they make a documentary about it. There are so many wonderful stories in his book, *MGM: Hollywood's Greatest Backlot.*
-
kbreggia, Ginger Rogers is also one of my favorite screen personalities! I thoroughly enjoy *The Major and The Minor*, and all of her films with Fred Astaire.
*Kitty Foyle* is also a great dramatic vehicle for her, and you are right--she has many talents!
-
Me, too. The technical artistry that created Robby and the people who were responsible for making him move and function onscreen are some of the unsung heroes of film.
And I loved the intro to *The Adventures of Robin Hood* when they discuss the sounds of the arrows and how they figured out how to create the same sounds at Skywalker Ranch while showing the film of their experiments.
-
Ladies, I really have enjoyed the Leslie Howard films. I loved that story that Celeste Holm told about appearing on the stage with him. (The one about the "accidental" kiss.)
Bronxie, my Mom loved to archive food. It all started back in Tampa, Florida, when she figured out how to make our very own T.V. dinners. She would save all the aluminum trays from previous frozen meals and make a huge pot of stew or a casserole with vegetables, cover the trays with "heavy duty" foil, and in a few weeks, they would magically appear whenever my Dad was out of town, and she didn't want to cook a big meal.
