And I hope to be able to create one!
I must try the procedure you just described the next time I go to Galveston and buy
some fresh ones.... as wide as I am tall.....hummnnnnm ...

I know they will show some of my favorite Roy Rogers films!
And I can't believe Roy would be 100!
-
Many congratulations, Sansfin! I am so proud of you and all your hard work!

A trip to Baltimore! No more lump crab meat left when I wheeled outtta that town!

I can remember when I was in college and living in a nice,
ground floor one bedroom apartment, and one afternoon
the horror came in threes...
I had just come home from class. As I was pulling my key
out of my purse to unlock my front door, a lovely
little copperhead, a two-footer, came squiggling at
me. When I finally went inside, after he slunk away,
somehow there was a tree frog in my tub. They
really make me feel yucky, so it "like" totally grossed
me out.
Somehow, I used two plastic bags to pick up the little tree
froggy with the funny, padded feet and tossed him as
far away from my front door as I could.
Then I began watering my pony-tail palm because I was going
to bring it indoors as the temperature was dropping below
freezing for the first time. All was well. It was thirsty no more.
Then I picked it up and moved it into the living room...
doodley doodley doo....and in a few minutes my
whole apartment was swarming with wasps. Evidently,
there was a rather large nest that was well hidden
within the tree near the base of the roots.
So I ran around the apartment screaming like a chicken,
and waving folded newspapers until the last of the
stingers/stinkers was fended off.
So I didn't go anywhere for a couple of days after that.
I ordered a lot of jalapeno and anchovy pizzas, and
watched a lot of MTV, and drank lots of Big Red.

I have had an unusually difficult time making up my mind this challenge season.
There have been so many hours spent organizing ideas, creating schedules,
listing premieres, and adding suggestions for the Film Festival.
And I've mentioned some of my favorites on the original thread.
I know I need to vote now because I will be travelling, and I
won't have time to vote after this evening.
Because of the premieres, fashion choices, themes, and
Private Screenings choice of DORIS DAY, I choose:
LONESOME POLECAT!
I wish I could have voted for everyone. There were
many aspects of all schedules that I know I would
enjoy seeing, and hope that TCM Programmers
feel free to steal from the Challenge!
And I truly hope Kingrat gets his Film Fesitval Wish
with a great discussion panel concerning...KINGRAT!

If you are interested in all things Ava, I recommend Lee Server's 2006 "Love is Nothing."
-
Oh, no, honey. No one from Texas is ever obnoxious. Just loud! Ha!

-
Surely hope Leslie Caron will be introducing *An American in Paris* at the TCM 2011 Film Fest...
-
*C. Bogle* --Glad to see Brighton Rock on your challenge! THE Brit noir...
Aunt Bee, just call the man,uhhh.. the agent...loved it!
*Lonesome* ---Thanks for adding one of my favorites to your premiere--Babette's Feast!
I also love "What a Way to Go!"
*SansFIn* --Love your "Day" day and Premiere of The Virgin Queen followed by Young
Bess, and Elizabeth and Essex
*Capuchin* --enjoyed your Zenda and 'Patra days...
*Filmlover* --Ha! A RUNYON FOR HIS MONEY! Cute... and good selection for the film festival
*Kingrat* --I enjoyed 'When actors direct' and 'When directors act'. Plus I think Kingrat with all the actors you've listed would make a post-film discussion group led by Robert Osborne.
Thank all you talented challengers for the hours and ideas!
And led by our favorite fashionista, Countess De Lave......

Dear David in Seattle,
I think I remember meeting you at one of the Pizza places near Mann's in April.
Hope I get to see you again. I had so much fun at TCM Fest 2010!
-
Oh! Don't be jealous! You will meet lots of new friends at the festival. That is what is so wonderful
about attending. Folks are gathering because they enjoy the classic films in a classy
setting.
-
I am planning on attending. And I have a few friends from Texas that have also decided to
go in 2011....
-
It was such a wonderful visit!!! I'll never forget it!

-
I am steeped in Sir Alec's witticisms and his great talent. *Kind Hears and Coronets* is an amazing
spectrum of his talents...
-
Hope "You all" are doing well! Loved my foray to Charm City!

I'm off to read a bit more in his bio - I can't remember reading a biography as good as this one in a long time. Plus Richardson makes me laugh hard periodically throughout the book. He really is the perfect eccentric uncle you spoke of.

Been revisiting my Ealing favorites....lately. Reading Alec Guinness' last autobiography/journal,
and swimming in *Kind Hearts and Coronets*...

I enjoyed Barbara Rush and Paul Newman in *The Young Philadelphians.*
It was such a great story, and Robert Vaughn, our "Man from U.N.C.L.E.," was quite
disturbingly convincing as Chester, the one-armed black sheep alcoholic of the clan.
Richard Deacon, Mel Cooley from "The Dick Van Dyke Show," also had a different role as the rye-sniffing valet, but I felt that, besides Newman's tour de force stint as the young, aspiring
barrister, that Bryan Keith, as the hard-drinking, barroom politicker was charming and sweet.
And I loved her comments about Mason! If he wasn't " Byronic"
in Pandora, then neither was Olivier in *Wuthering Heights*....

And everyone looks so happy because we were having so much fun!

OMIGOSH! Two people I know are in a huge photo on the new Festival Site for CLUB TCM!
-
SO sorry to hear of his passing. I enjoyed so many of his performances.. *Swiss Family Robinson,*
*Light in the Forest*, *Spencer's Mountain* and everyone's favorite, on Hawaii Five-O...
-
Don't forget: *Passes go on sale November 3rd!*
-
I enjoy *Stalag 17* so much that I want to add it for the showings this year. It would be lovely
if Stephanie Powers might be able to introduce it.
