Well, remember the Bronxie fixation with the Aztec mummy? When she's done with somebody,
she always trots out the canopic jars....
But I love Eve Arden, the wise-crackin' queen of the double-taked square-in-the-eye stare.

Stewart: You're fired!
Eve Arden: You can't fire me 'till you pay me!

Clayburgh was good. I even liked *Starting Over.*
But her casting in *Gable and Lombard*, didn't it have something to do
with the fact her husband was a producer or director?
If someone is "in the know," please correct me or validate me.

We've just shared a psychic proper adjective moment.
BTW, couldn't Lee hear the frogs croakin' on the porch of the double wide?
(This just in from Borneo.)

I can remember the hype when this film came out. It was popular.
Our neighbor or someone had been to see it, and she was talking about it,
and my Mom wouldn't let me listen. Something about the description
of the story scared me so I was sent outside to play or to my room.
I think I was 5 years old then. But even then I was a sucker for a great
story.
I like James Stewart when he is on the job, the non-stammering Stewart.
Lee Remick was the queen of her scenes, too. Remick was so understated in
Wild River, and the transformation in Anatomy is like the entire other
side of the psyche. Otto always had them Teutonically on the ball.
It's so wonderful that you got to see her in person, CinemAva!
She looks like she would luminisce even on stage.
Cute link, 'Naka...

I liked those styles more, too, James. But Big Hair is so much fun!
Yes, Cinemava, that is not Ona Munson. But it was labeled Ona Munson.
Do forgive.

And they'd best stay out of Texas and Louisiana 'cause we just cook 'em and eat 'em!
We sure don't let the squirrels get 'em first!
Squirrels are for gathering nuts in May!

Cuban tree frogs on the move:http://news.ufl.edu/2009/07/16/tree-frogs/
OOMG! Are they on their way here?
You Floridians aren't the only folks with FROGLODYTES....

And it would be fantastic if Kevin Brownlow attends since he is receiving the honorary Oscar this February.
-
Ooh. Yeah. *Thief of Baghdad* would be good, too!
-
Lee Remick on Thursday!

That is a beautiful poster, Kyle. I really love it.
How about *Bardelys the Magnificent* ? I really enjoyed it last night, and that's the first time I've seen it.
The music was wonderful.
I enjoyed *Flesh and the Devil* , too. Any chance that might be selected?

We'll miss 'ya mucho, gal!
I'm probably on the same march now, too!

Lauren "Betty" Bacall on Wednesday...

"This is Turner Classic Movies, all day..."

Great post, lzcutter!

Great link, Moira!
I loved the Butterfield 8 "autopsy," too.
-
It's been a great Gilbert day!
-
Yep. Nick needed that beard. Gave him stature...pizzazz...
-
Yes, that was Miss Mimieux....
She looked great there, BTW...
Hope Ben Johnson gets his day next August....I think it's time.
-
Great comments about *Butterfield 8*, Miss G. and the MAVE....Nevermore!
Clever, Jackie!

Unsinkable's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THN5GR6_Nbg
Is that Anjanette Comer with George Hamilton?
Natalie get lots of photo ops here and she looks great.
Harve Presnell is so cute in his tux!
I never knew Debbie wore the dress from the film to the premiere!
Plus lots of BIG HAIR...it's the 60's, after all.
-
I really like ole Bob in that part. It was a good departure for him. As for Trevor Howard, I've enjoyed his performances in every film of his that I've seen.
I do remember there was a lot of flack about Mitchum's casting, and questioning Lean's choices
for the different parts. It is an evocative piece about that era in Eire...
-
I love what the announcer said about my fave Clint Walker..."Is he a big one."
Great archival youtube find, Bronxie!
Did everybody see Sue Anne Langdon? What a spotlight ham!!! Too cute. She's as bad as I am
when the photographers show up!
And you know, Cher did take Sonny's advice about keeping up with musical trends.
Peter Ford is so cute. Does anyone remember that story about how Eleanor Powell, Peter's
Mom, saved him from a serious illness?
Nancy Sinatra and Michael Caine? He looked kind of uneasy....
Liz's big'"do" belongs on the Big Hair Thread.
I never knew Ed Begley, Sr., could boogaloo....wild one...
But I always thought Bill Bixby was so cute. And he did have that flashy smile...
I love George Clooney's Villa del lago Como in the other video...prego, prego, villa de giorgio, per favore...
-
Like filmlover, I find more enjoyment in Lean's earlier films, but *Ryan's Daughter* has a certain charm, and I always enjoy it when I see it. It is slow and plodding in several places, but the story is
a good one, however it translated to film. Several excellent performances, too.
Probably the most understated Mitchum I've ever seen. He must have wanted a free trip to Ireland or something.
