If there is a channel out there showing lots of pre-Codes, I'd like to know what it is. I want to see TCM stick to its roots.
-
Well, that would explain why there are fewer pre-Codes being shown these days. They were standard fare first on TNT and then, TCM. Those were the days.

I see SATYRICON has been removed from the June schedule. Have the blue noses struck again? It had been scheduled at 2AM. It is pointless printing out the schedule as soon as its posted. June 30th was to have been Glenda Farrell Day and it was canceled as well. Numerous Columbia titles have been scheduled and canceled during 2007 & 2008. So was SEVEN FOOTPRINTS TO SATAN, scheduled 5/29. What is going on?

Thanks much! Where oh where can this film be? It has such a terrific cast. I still have hope it will resurface somewhere. :-)
-
Would to see pics of the "lost" Helen Twelvetrees pic, THE CAT CREEPS (Universal, 1930).
-
The highlights are definitely Marie Dressler, Barbara Stanwyck and Laurel & Hardy.
-
I'm happy that Claude Rains is included in the August line-up. Unfortunately, TCM does not have access to his Universal titles...THE INVISIBLE MAN; MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD; THE MAN WHO RECLAIMED HIS HEAD; THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA...all important Rains titles. :-(
-
I'm very disappointed with the Edward G. Robinson selection...only one pre-Code, the oft-seen LITTLE CAESAR. What about THE HATCHET MAN, TWO SECONDS, THE LITTLE GIANT and THE MAN WITH TWO FACES? Grrrrrr!!!
-
Edward G. Robinson is one of the stars on the August schedule. His only pre-Code is the oft-seen LITTLE CAESAR. Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
-
That film you reference was called THE WITCHES and was retitled THE DEVIL'S OWN here in the States. Joan Fontaine in a Hammer horror film...who'd a thunk it?
-
In addition to continuing using SUGGEST A MOVIE, I suggest writing to TCM at 1050 Techwood Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30318-5604. We gotta go the extra mile!
-
We pre-Code fans must put up a united front. There needs to be more pre-Codes shown each month. 1950s westerns and 1960s teen flicks just don't cut the mustard.
-
I disagree with the previous poster re the public domain status of the titles mentioned.
-
What?s this 1965 TV show doing on TCM?

As I'm not a Sinatra fan, the point is moot. I won't be watching the movies either. -
If you mean the most faithful to its source, the BBC version starring Louis Jourdan. The most entertaining is DRACULA (Universal, 1931), with Bela Lugosi's iconic performance. This version was adapted from the Broadway play (which also starred Lugosi), not Stoker's novel.
-
I'd love to see it too. It is a Fox Film.

Horror fans should make their Halloween requests during May and June!
-
Franz Waxman"s BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and THE INVISIBLE RAY.
-
This is a good reminder for people to make requests about 4 months in advance. Halloween requests should be made in June, at the latest; Christmas requests should be made in August, at the latest.
-
Quite simply, my favorite Hammer.
-
Warner seems to have the most & best classics dont they

I have a sinking feeling the August 2008 schedule is going to be a big disappointment for 1930s film fans. I hope I'm proven wrong but I'm not hopeful.
