The First Film That Comes to Mind...

How about HARVEY? nw=tintinnabulation -
But you simply must try it! Where else can you eliminate annoying people from your life?
-
Actually, they say Capricorn and Pisces are quite compatible...whoever "they" are.
-
So TCM documentaries have a hidden agenda???
-
Yes, around here ignorance is bliss. I no longer am exposed to the inane posts created by the ninny I have on "ignore".
-
As a Capricorn, I appreciate your sentiment, scsu.

Documentaries by their very nature are supposed to be balanced and truthful. I watched that Joan Crawford documentary the other night and, quite frankly, am shocked at the reaction. It's unfortunate if one cannot separate real from reel. If you're that sensitive, then perhaps documentaries are not for you. I personally do not care that Bela Lugosi had a drug addiction...or that Clara Bow was easy...or that Agnes Moorehead was a lesbian...or that John Gilbert was an alcoholic...or that Paul Kelly killed somebody...or that Charlton Heston is a cheerleader for the NRA...or that Jayne Mansfield was affiliated with the Church of Satan...or that Gene Tierney had mental problems...or that Lex Barker was a child molester...or that a married Gary Cooper made advances to Fay Wray...or that John Wayne had seven children by three wives...or that Lionel Atwill showed dirty movies and lied about it...or that Loretta Young had Clark Gable's love child. They were ACTORS and their JOB was to entertain us, which they did. I don't know my neighbors' personal business and I'm glad about it. Furthermore, deceased celebrities cannot defend themselves. So just enjoy the great movies that TCM shows and avoid the documentaries if you don't have the stomach for them.
-
And I can't believe that TCM is being blamed (by some) for all the drama here because they showed the documentary! Jesus, Mary & Joseph! I have my fingers crossed that poor Richard Widmark never so much as jaywalked.

Time for Claude Rains to not be *invisible*
PrinceSaliano replied to TripleHHH's topic in General Discussions
Periodically, I request a Claude Rains Day on SUGGEST A MOVIE. I always include THE INVISIBLE MAN, THE MAN WHO RECLAIMED HIS HEAD, MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (all Universal Pics).. -
Just taking an informal poll... I've been a poster for about 2 years and have never used "IGNORE" until today. I love it! Wish we could use it in real life. How many others are using it?
-
I don't know that pre-Codes should have a specially scheduled time. But I do think TCM should commit to a minimum number per month. They're popular and not to be found anywhere else.
-
Movies are about make-believe!
-
Some of us can separate real from reel.
-
Celluloidkid's list does not represent B-movies made by the major studios during the 30s & 40s.
-
I think B-movies were mostly defined by budget. However, running time could be a factor (under 75 minutes, perhaps). And stars were most definitely a factor.

I think the use of nitrate stock was discontinued in 1950.

Walter Brennan, Dwight Frye and John Carradine all have unbilled bits.
