KAY FRANCIS 31. WARREN WILLIAM
  3. I'm happy to say I requested the ultra-rare Columbia pic THE BIG TIMER (1932) and TCM played it recently (December, I think). Love me some Thelma Todd!
  4. I've received correspondence from Victoria Wyndham who starred on ANOTHER WORLD for an incredible 27 years. I've also met Robert Hutton and the Supremes' Mary Wilson.
  5. How did we have that post-war baby boom with all those husbands and wives sleeping in separate beds???
  6. Movie censorship was indeed insane. Vote Democratic this November. Keep the right-wing of the Republican party out of power! Who knows what those nuts will come up with next.
  7. SORDID LIVES (2000) This was advertised as "a black comedy about white trash"!
  8. THE LAST WARNING (Universal) COCOANUTS (Paramount) THE MYSTERIOUS DR. FU MANCHU (Paramount) SEVEN FOOTPRINTS TO SATAN (First National) THE THIRTEENTH CHAIR (MGM)
  9. THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1962) COMEDY OF TERRORS (1964) SPIDER BABY (1964) CARRY ON SCREAMING (1966) HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN (1970)
  10. THE BLOODY PIT OF HORROR (1965) starring Mickey Hargitay! Ray Dennis Steckler Roger Corman Mario Bava Barbara Steele German Robles William Beaudine Ed Wood Karloff's Mexican films (1968) Bela Lugosi @ Monogram George Zucco @ PRC QUEEN OF BURLESQUE (PRC, 1946) starring Evelyn Ankers THE HONEYMOON KILLERS (1970) MUDHONEY (1965)
  11. I would prefer TCM not show movies made prior to 1970. The only exception I would make is with TCM Underground. Furthermore, I would like to see more pre-Code titles each month.
  12. Spanky & Alfalfa in the OUR GANG shorts. Dramatically, the kid in THE SEARCH (1948).
  13. The Wheeler & Woolsey films should be shown more often. Also, the pre-Code "women's pictures" starring Helen Twelvetrees, Constance Bennett, Irene Dunne and Ann Harding. Other RKO favories include THIRTEEN WOMEN; THE PHANTOM OF CRESTWOOD; BAD COMPANY; IS MY FACE RED?; STRANGER ON THE THIRD FLOOR; YOU'LL FIND OUT. Whatever became of THE MONKEY'S PAW???
  14. Mae Clarke is a great under-rated pre-Code star whose career fizzled after 1934, much like her contemporary Helen Twelvetrees.
  15. Charisma? Bela Lugosi and Lionel Atwill had it in spades. But if you're referring to traditional leading men, I must mention Robert Mitchum, Chester Morris, Preston Foster, Ricardo Cortez (based on his Sam Spade in THE MALTESE FALCON), Dennis O'Keefe (he could play comedy and drama), Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (pre-Code), James Cagney and George O'Brien (the BEST B-western star).
  16. My Wish List is simple...more pre-Codes from all the studios (including Universal and Paramount)!
  17. Clara Bow's character visited a gay bar in CALL HER SAVAGE (Fox, 1932).
  18. Kind of a lackluster month. But I'm excited about WHEN'S YOUR BIRTHDAY?; THE FALL GUY; MICHAEL; THE GHOST TRAIN; and, especially, MURDER IN THE PRIVATE CAR.
  19. Some of the best film adaptations are: ROSEMARY'S BABY MOTHER NIGHT AND THEN THERE WERE NONE GREAT EXPECTATIONS (1946) LOST HORIZON (1937) A TALE OF TWO CITIES (1935) MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS COUNT DRACULA (BBC adaptation starring Louis Jourdan) WISE BLOOD THE HAUNTING
  20. I would like to see TCM scuttle "31 Days of Oscar" this year and every year thereafter. It is TCM's most boring month, followed by August's "Summer Under the Stars". August can be better, though, with better choices. Last year, earlier stars were poorly represented. Ernest Borgnine had a day! At least 10 pre-Code stars should be represented......William Haines; John Gilbert; Lon Chaney; Leila Hyams; Constance Bennett; Wheeler & Woolsey; Helen Twelvetrees; Joan Blondell; Richard Barthelmess; Richard Dix.
  21. I'm glad to see so many favorable comments. I expected the right-wingers to get their panties in a twist!
