When Lugosi was not the star, he also stole every scene he was in.
-
You are very welcome. Enjoy!

I didn't see it, despite being a Richard Dix fan.

I don't believe that the suits at Time Warner give a rat's **** about what goes on here. When the web administrators are contacted, I imagine their reaction is "J.C., those idiots at the TCM Message Boards are at it again. Why don't they use the "ignore" function or, better yet, just watch the damn movies?!"

In June, TCM is showing two Anna May Wong pics, DAUGHTER OF THE DRAGON and DAUGHTER OF SHANGHAI. What rare Paramounts are you hoping to see? I want...
THE MYSTERIOUS DR. FU MANCHU (1929)
THE RETURN OF DR. FU MANCHU (1930)
THE SEA GOD (1930)
MURDER BY THE CLOCK (1931)
KICK IN (1931) and other Clara Bow titles
HOT SATURDAY (1932) and other Nancy Carroll titles
TERROR ABOARD (1933)
WHITE WOMAN (1933) and other Carole Lombard titles
DOUBLE DOOR (1934)
THE WITCHING HOUR (1934)
PEOPLE WILL TALK (1935) and other Ruggles-Boland titles
THE PREVIEW MURDER MYSTERY (1936)

For Memorial Day:
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT (1930)
WESTFRONT 1918 (1930)
GRAND ILLUSION (1937)

BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW tonight...greatly looking forward to it.

Cool. So much for "evil" Joan Crawford!
-
When you put someone on "ignore" you cannot see their posts. I assume, of course, that they can still see yours. I cannot tell you how much I love "ignore"! This feature is available for a reason and I encourage anybody who is being harassed or annoyed to use it. Why bother the web administrator with such trivia?
-
Lionel Atwill stole every scene he was ever in.
-
Amen, lzcutter.

Thelma I'm surprised at your reaction after reading your "TCM" thread. Perhaps your strategy is to report to the web administrator. I find "ignore" much more facile and it doesn't require censorship. By the way, I am a huge Thelma Todd fan and was extremely happy to see her very rare THE BIG TIMER on TCM in December. AFTER THE DANCE is scheduled in May! Unfortunately, SEVEN FOOTPRINTS TO SATAN was canceled. I have a grey market VHS copy of it. One of the jewels of my collection is THE POOR RICH...it's got Thelma AND Leila Hyams!

You're new here, mcphoto. It took two years for me to use it. It's an excellent way to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Any woman who resembles Preston Foster needs Extreme Makeover!
-
Yes, he played a similar role in THE GREAT GARRICK.
-
Sounds like Carroll O'Connor!
-
Thanks for the heads up. JOHNNY APOLLO features one of my faves, Lionel Atwill.
-
Leyland Hodgson immediately comes to mind...and he had a magnificent voice.
-
Indeed they did. TCM needs to show FOG ISLAND. Ian Keith's in it too.
-
They both played Holmes nemesis Professor Moriarty...and Zucco was a joy as High Priest Andoheb in THE MUMMY'S HAND. But it's hard to top Lionel Atwill as Ivan Igor (MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM), Eric Gorman (MURDERS IN THE ZOO), Colonel Bishop (CAPTAIN BLOOD), Inspector Krogh (SON OF FRANKENSTEIN), Doctor Rigas (MAN MADE MONSTER) and Doctor Bohmer (GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN).
-
Ann Sothern...no contest.
-
Oddly, it was Joan who starred in a Hammer horror film, THE WITCHES (retitled THE DEVIL'S OWN here in the States). It was a trend at the time for older actresses to go Grand Guignol.

The best of Laurel & Hardy's shorts (CHICKENS COME HOME, THEIR FIRST MISTAKE, **** FOR TAT) are among the funniest comedies ever.
