Movies are about make-believe!
-
Some of us can separate real from reel.
-
Celluloidkid's list does not represent B-movies made by the major studios during the 30s & 40s.
-
I think B-movies were mostly defined by budget. However, running time could be a factor (under 75 minutes, perhaps). And stars were most definitely a factor.

This place is a microcosm of the world at large. If you want to participate, you must suffer fools, boors and a******s. There's no way around it (unless you use "ignore" which I haven't as of yet). Perhaps the best remedy is to respond only to those you find bright and interesting. If the louts are not responded to, they'll soon fade away (a tall order, I know).

For Halloween...
DRACULA (1931) Bela Lugosi
THE RETURN OF DRACULA (1958) Francis Lederer (it takes place during the Halloween season!)
BLACK SUNDAY (1960) Barbara Steele
-
Olivia has the more impressive filmography.
-
You must have been watching a re-release print. I don't think the original cut survives. If memory serves me, Katherine DeMille was cut out of the picture but she is still listed in the credits.
-
DAUGHTER OF THE DRAGON...Yes!!!
-
I think the use of nitrate stock was discontinued in 1950.
-
Walter Brennan, Dwight Frye and John Carradine all have unbilled bits.
-
Lugosi & Karloff
-
Unfortunately for Thelma, you cannot sanitize the Internet. It is not a playground or babysitter for children. All public forums are alike, in that differences in opinion will be expressed...frequently in a very impolite and brusque manner. Complaining that TCM is being negligent is absolutely ridiculous. I had forgotten the brouhaha over last June's schedule as well as the one concerning Jane Fonda. Current uproars will be forgotten as well (despite one poster's ominous warning that he has a memory like an elephant).

CURSE OF THE CRYING WOMAN

Bugs Bunny did great drag.
-
Lugosi & Karloff in THE BLACK CAT and THE RAVEN!
-
"I never drink...wine."
"Listen to them...children of the night! What music they make!"
Both lines spoken by Bela Lugosi in DRACULA (1931)
-
The classic Universal horror films, of course!
-
I knew the late Robert Hutton and his former wife.
-
I think TCM should discontinue the message boards. They should retain SUGGEST A MOVIE and require registration with e-mail verification. They should also limit the number of characters posted.
-
There COULD be separate forums for Religion and Politics for those so inclined. I would have no interest in going there. My choice of "any red state" was perfectly legitimate for this thread. Mr. Holman chose to make it political and I will always stand up for my beliefs.
-
Not that I'm a fan of this genre, but Betsy Palmer had a doozy of a demise in FRIDAY THE 13th (1980).

NIGHT OF THE LEPUS

Zabriskie Point removed from schedule by TCM Standards & Practices

Let's not turn TCM into the Disney Channel. TCM Underground can be an oasis for those of us who enjoy cult films. Bring ZABRISKIE POINT back!
