I've never seen the 1934 version either but am hoping TCM will show it someday. The Alistair Sim version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a true classic. However, the Reginald Owen version is quite charming...that MGM studio feel.

Yes, hon, too numerous to mention.

Unkept? Darling, don't you mean unkempt???

I'll stick with my choice of "any red state" for scariest setting. After all, it includes Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas (cue "Deliverance" music).

Erebus, the concept of an "atheist conservative" is an interesting one. When I think of a conservative, I think of the religious right and all it's hypocrisy. The far right has hijacked the Republican party and the word conservative. Fiscal conservatism is one thing. But intrusion into the bedroom and the doctor's office is quite another. The poster who sparked my ire clearly represents the latter. Watch for John McCain to begin courting the far right very soon.

Bela Lugosi played a blind, talking Monster in FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN. When they cut out all his dialog scenes, they cut out all references to his blindness! Ever since, his performance has been criticized.
