TCM plans months in advance and I hold out hope that they are trying to get some of his rare and seldom seen films as well as reaching out to his grandson, Wyatt, to co-host with Robert O. > > All this stuff takes time. It took quite awhile for TCM to get *Five Graves to Cairo* (from the time we started advocating for that one) but it was definitely worth the wait. > > And I have no doubt this will be worth it, too! > If they dig up HALF A SINNER (1934) it will have been worth the wait...a rare Universal.

  3. My monthly cable bill is currently $73.71. I primarily watch TCM.

  5. I expect to be viewing some classic Lugosi performances this month. AND, the long-awaited DVD release of ISLAND OF LOST SOULS is coming later in October!
  6. I much prefer the 1932 version. I probably like Bugs Bunny's HYDE AND HARE better than Tracy too.
  7. Another variation is "Jesus, Mary and Joseph!"

  9. And where is the link to the printable schedule?
  10. Bela Lugosi for SOTM in 2012. Nuff sed!
  11. I looked like 80s Brit pop singer Rick Astley, back in the day.
  12. I've seen them all and own most of them as well.
  13. > {quote:title=clore wrote:}{quote}It may not be the one, but i know i got a chuckle when James Gleason said something to Edna May Oliver about her looking good enough to eat and she said "Don't be vulgar." The line I was referencing was Edna Mae Oliver's line to Rochelle Hudson (playing a switchboard operator)... EO: How do you know it was a man? RH: Well a dame wouldn't be calling me "Honey", now would she? EO: Not this far uptown!
  14. > {quote:title=markbeckuaf wrote:}{quote}Who else is enjoying waking up to this great 1932 mystery?? I absolutely groove to my main man James Gleason as Inspector Piper, and Edna May Oliver was born to play the role of Hildegarde Withers! Very cool stuff, also featuring my main man Robert Armstrong and the one of the sexiest dames on celluloid, Mae Clarke!! Dig it! Has possibly the best pre-code line ever. Did you catch it?
  15. > {quote:title=markbeckuaf wrote:}{quote}Great little pre-code flick with Jimmy Cagney and Loretta Young (and if you've never seen her in pre-code films, you've never seen her, wow!!!). The flick aired on Thursday (that was a totally groovy day for flix during the daytime!!), and I'm just catching up with it this morning. Really love it! > > Anyone else have some thoughts on it? One of my all-time fave Cagney films! And the credits come at the end!
  16. I'm not a fan of westerns, but the two 1930s Zorro serials are quite enjoyable. Even ZORRO'S BLACK WHIP (1944) is fun, especially for featuring frequent heavy George J. Lewis as a good guy leading man.
  17. > {quote:title=musicalnovelty wrote:}{quote}Did anyone watch this on TCM Wednesday night? > As I mentioned earlier, I've seen it before, but am wondering what others thought of it. I enjoyed seeing such a rare 30s film on television. The same year (1934), Neil Hamilton starred with Binnie Barnes in the Universal comedy, ONE EXCITING ADVENTURE. Would love to see that one.
  18. It's been much too long since TCM played THE MAD GENIUS (1931).
  19. I believe the Library of Congress holds a large number of Laemmle-era Universals. Let's get these very rare titles in TCM!
  20. > {quote:title=TopBilled wrote:}{quote}I am annoyed by people who come to these boards to post one negative criticism about TCM after another. They create countless threads about how terrible the channel is. > > I am equally annoyed by people who try to defend TCM with reasons for why the programmers or technicians do what they do. Most of these reasons seem phony to me, even when old posts from TCM programmers are quoted...posts that often address slightly different issues. > > I watch this channel more than any other channel. It would be wrong to say TCM is a perfect entertainment source with no mistakes ever made. It would also be wrong to chronically complain about TCM. > > You are either a fan of TCM or you are not. And if you are a fan, you will patiently tolerate some of the broadcast issues. The world isn't black or white.
  21. I liked the film...but greatly disliked the ending.
