Constance Bennett used to turn up more frequently on TCM...before Goldie Hawn and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
-
I would say the best are PEACH-O-RENO; HIPS HIPS HOORAY; COCKEYED CAVALIERS; KENTUCKY KERNELS; THE NITWITS.
-
I'm a big fan of A&C, especially their earlier films, THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES; MEET FRANKENSTEIN; MEET THE KILLER.
-
It doesn't really have a plot...it's dreamlike.
-
I vaguely remember an NBC daytime soap, RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE. John Hoyt played Martin Peyton. He lived upstairs in a mansion and everybody thought he was dead except Hannah, the housekeeper.

Happy "Murder Indigenous People" Day!

More appropriately called the Goldie Yawn Mini-Marathon.

I've not yet had the opportunity to see the very rare NIGHT LIFE OF THE GODS (Universal, 1935). I've read Thorne Smith's novel and there is no doubt in my mind it would have been a better pic (based on contemporary reviews) had it been made before the code.

Well, they have to atone for the Goldie Hawn marathon!
-
Wasn't it part of a mini Goldie Hawn marathon? GOLDIE HAWN???!!!
-
Is this set available or not?
-
BLACK MOON (1934) and THE MISSING JUROR (1944) aired early this morning...a B-movie lover's dream!
-
FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED (1969)
-
Is the set available for purchase or not?
-
You're missing the point.

Many of the best films of all time were made during the Code years and when the Code ended in 1968 almost overnight many films became crass and ugly and a waste of time, at least to my mind.

Please list some pre-Codes that showed the inside of a toilet bowl. Thanks.

LOL I would hardly expect Crawford or Davis or Hopkins to star in a Columbia programmer. The fact that Fay IS the star is what makes it so much fun!
-
Yes, October could have been far better. Leslie Caron as SOTM? Why not Karloff, Lugosi, Chaney or Atwill???
-
CLARA BOW FOR STAR OF THE MONTH!!!
-
Loved the pre-Code race angle! Fay was gorgeous in an unusual role for her. Her leading man, Gene Raymond, was just as pretty!
-
I'm cautiously optimistic about the (alleged) upcoming Paramount-Universal titles. I'm hoping for rare early 30s stuff. But I'm worried we'll only end up with the Hope-Crosby "Road" pics; Doris Day & Rock Hudson; and 1950s westerns.
-
I've always much preferred their Paramount films to those produced by MGM (and DUCK SOUP played on TCM not too long ago).

I've heard some pretty jaw dropping excuses coming out in defense of this coward who used a girl, got caught, fled the country with his tail between his legs and later made light of the situation if not out right dismissing it! Its time for film people to distinguish between a person's work and the person! As a parent myself I ask his defenders what they would feel if this was done to one of YOUR children? Would you still defend him??

I hardly think Roman Polanski is a threat to "our children". Do you honestly expect him to hang out in a schoolyard in a raincoat in your town?

When can we expect Adam Sandler as Star of the Month?

Abbott and Costello are not funny

All their pre-1945 films are worthwhile.
