Is this person a product of America's public education system? Gadzooks!!

Michael Jackson was black?!

Can REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIES (1943) be far behind?

Marlene Dietrich and Anna May Wong. Don't know the other one, but she resembles Diana Wynyard.

Well, if they can get ahold of it, then why not ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, MURDER BY THE CLOCK and MURDERS IN THE ZOO as well?

She looks like a combination of Toby Wing and Una Merkel!
-
I believe Bela Lugosi also died on the same date as Elvis...21 years earlier. But does Bela get a tribute?
-
Bravo for the two Columbia Bs, ONE MYSTERIOUS NIGHT and ESCAPE IN THE FOG...highlights of the month without enough B-movies.
-
This needs to be on TCM Underground, along with SHE CREATURE (1956).
-
Bela Lugosi (as Ygor) in SON OF FRANKENSTEIN (1939).
-
NIGHT LIFE OF THE GODS (Universal, 1935) based on Thorne (TOPPER) Smith's comic-fantasy novel. Unfortunately, the Production Code would have eliminated the more risque aspects of the story.

Leon Errol for Star of the Month!
Seriously, Flynn's birthday wasn't celebrated because of this godawful director thing. My beloved TCM Underground got canceled this month too. That at least they could've had a William Beaudine Day!
-
I have to add THE HIDDEN HAND (Warner Bros., 1942)
-
DRACULA (1931)
-
LOST HORIZON (1937)

Fred gets it. When 1985 films are "old", they still won't be from the Golden Age.

> I don't mind studying directors, but this is just too much. With Oscar's Month and SUTS, we have too many of these. Hopefully it's just this year and next year June will be liberated for more interesting things. I'm not saying it's been all bad, as with SUTS and Oscar's, there are some good things there, but it's restricting to an extent.
> I agree that July and September both rock, so hang in there, if you're not digging on this month, I agree with you (somewhat, though last Sunday was out of this world, and there have been gems here and there). But hang in there. And if you are up early tomorrow morning (or have a recording device, and if you don't, invest in one!), check out some great stuff---ELMER THE GREAT (1933), I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG (1932), LITTLE CAESAR (1930). All GREAT early 30's films. We take our little slices of heaven where we get them, but let's face it, you can't change the channel to find any films like that on!
Mark gets it.

THE CAT CREEPS (Universal, 1930) 'cause there's a print out there somewhere
-
June is a dud. July and September are much better.

What horror films are you hoping to see on TCM this year?
1. German silents (THE GOLEM; FAUST; HANDS OF ORLAC)
2. SEVEN FOOTPRINTS TO SATAN (First National, 1929)
3. RETURN OF THE TERROR (First National, 1934)
4. THE VAMPIRE'S GHOST (Republic, 1945)
5. VALLEY OF THE ZOMBIES (Republic, 1946)
6. THE MAD GHOUL (Universal, 1943)
7. NIGHT OF TERROR (Columbia, 1933)
8. THE APE MAN (Monogram, 1943) a good print!
9. THINGS HAPPEN AT NIGHT (British, 1948)
10. THE CAT AND THE CANARY (Paramount, 1939)

I'm loving the rare Columbias. Hopefully, we'll get rare Universals from the same era.

Final thoughts on Directors' Month

These specialty months (February, June, August) don't float my boat. No Silent Sundays. No TCM Underground. Not enough B-movies. Not enough pre-Codes. Randomness works better for me. July is "hot", sandwiched between two dull months.
