RENDEZVOUS IN BLACK is one of my all-time favorite novels!

THE NINTH GUEST (Columbia, 1934)

This film is available on DVD. The set includes THE LODGER and UNDYING MONSTER.

TCM recently showed the original pre-release version. But Pegggy Knudsen's name was listed in the credits. She didn't appear in this first version, so why wasn't Pat Clark billed instead?
-
THE MONKEY'S PAW (RKO, 1933) or whatever's left of it.
-
Sean Connery in any of his 1960s Bond films.

There must be some logical reason why STREETCAR isn't aired at least once a month!

HUH???

No big deal. HANGOVER SQUARE is available on a DVD...the set also includes THE LODGER and UNDYING MONSTER. I purchased it a couple of years ago. I'd be impressed to see Fox titles not otherwise available.

That must be it...a foreign film, of course.

Now this is what TCM is all about!

That's true, Mark. But they did come through with THE BIG TIMER (1932), BY WHOSE HAND? (1932) and CIRCUS QUEEN MURDER (1933)...all of which are worthy of repeat.

Don't forget SUNSET BOULEVARD.

Betty Hutton

THE VAMPIRE'S GHOST (Republic, 1945)

Amazingly, 5 of these have been scheduled for September 25th! I don't know who's responsible for this, but they deserve some kind of award!

> Yeah, well, you see, TCM converted over to a modern AM/PM system that only allows old movies to be shown very early in the AM. Its got something to do with electronics. Newer ones from the 1970s through the 90s were made for easy conversion over to the PM format, so they can be shown during the day and in prime time. I think the AM films need an expensive conversion to the PM system, and TCM cant afford it because of bad economic times, you know. We the consumer can somehow still manage to afford to keep paying for old films, but now weve got to buy VCRs and DVDs so we can record them in the early AM hours.

LOL, Fred. However, i wouldn't mind if they showed lotsa pre-Codes during the wee hours. But they don't even do that. Nothing but excuses from the apologists. What next? Commercials?

Actually, my least favorite Columbia series. I prefer the Lone Wolf, Boston ****, the Crime Doctor, Ellery Queen and I Love a Mystery.
