  1. Yes! Carnival of Souls is sooooo creeeepy! That movie gives me goosebumps, I like when she plays that big pipe organ and then goes off on her tangent and starts to play that really creepy music.
  2. I was totally scared by the second movie "Aliens". I watched that with 2 friends at an almost empty theater in Hollywood on a rainy Sunday night. The scene where they are in that cavernous room and they don't see the creatures then the walls seem to move because the aliens are all over the walls. That night I couldn't close my eyes without seeing them everywhere. I have other all time favorites though. Like Legend of Hell House; when they are talking in the dining room and they hear that voice calling out and when they enter the chapel their colleague has been murdered. Very Creepy! I also love the Hammer Films they are among the best. And of course the Universal Classics - Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman and The Mummy. I can't just narrow it down to 1 all time fave! KT
  3. I watched the Big Street on Wednesday and was totally blown away by Miss Lucille Ball!!! Henry Fonda wasn't bad either! I was amazed at all the movies she did. She was great in the Big Street, totally out of character but really awesome..... Since I was a kid I remember her as Lucy Ricardo, I remember seeing the Long Long Trailer when I was a kid too. I think back then I would have been really disappointed to have seen her without Ricky or Ethel & Fred. But now that I am older I can really appreciate her as an actress. When they say she didn't make it as a really big movie star and she was in B movies, I would have to say because her destiny was to become "I LOVE LUCY". If she had made it as a big screen star, then perhaps she would never have come to the small screen...?
  4. I love neo-noir films, and am so glad you mentioned Johnny Handsome. That is going on my list of DVD's to buy! I also loved After Hours, but never thought of it as noir till now... I'm also going to check out After Dark My Sweet. Thanks KT
  5. What an unforgettable man! What a great actor and even greater loss. I'll really miss him.... Thanks KT
  6. > > > Your more than that ..your "Lovable" That is very nice of you. Thanks, I'm at a loss for words, I think I'm turning red.... KT
  7. . You people who love Rob Zombie are > unpretentious and I will now aline myself with you. > "LONG LIVE ROB ZOMBIE"! > Aftermath I always thought I was unpretentious!! Thanks KT
  8. Oh yeah and I still am not going to watch AMC, unless I > feel the mood for crappy editing and countless ads > for **** pills, Now that's classic horror! KT
  9. Did you really just say (or type that) I can't believe my ears??! What happened??? I think your funny! KT
  10. I JUST WANTED TO WISH EVERYONE: A VERY HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND A GREAT DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (DAY OF THE DEAD) THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER IS DEDICATED TO THIS DAY!!!! long live the gorillas of the world!
  11. Oh Gosh Golly Gee Whiz! Could it be true, that Rob is going to stick around and this isn't all going to end in October?! I'm Soooo happy soooo, sorry MRSL & Aftermath enjoy the sunshine while you can before it turns black...... Ha Ha just kidding Message was edited by: KT 10/28/06 KathleenT
  12. I Love James Cagney! Angels with Dirts Faces really struck a chord in my heart. It was all so believeable. This hardened criminal who would spit in the eye of any law enforcement including the guy who has to pull the lever for the electric chair, and here he does his friend the ultimate favor. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I would love to be able to see James Cagney on the big screen maybe someday they will show some of his films at one of the offbeat theaters that do revivals.
  13. I agree that Gary Oldmans portrayal of Dracula was very intense and moving. The first time I seen it I was totally in awe (and in love) with his character. This movie was so well done! I loved Lucy's house, Dracula's castle, the clothes they wore and the ride through the Carpathian mountains.
  14. I've seen Mark of the Vampire a couple times. And yes, the first time I seen it I was thrilled until the end when Bela and his Lady friend reveal that they are just hired actors! What a shocking dissapointment!!!!!! I've never gotten over it...... Am I to understand that Todd Browning directed this movie? Perhaps he succumbed to pressure, do to Universal letting him go because "Freaks" was not accepted. They kind of "freaked out" over his movie. Message was edited by: KT KathleenT
  15. Who is K Gordon Murray? And why I haven't I heard about him?? What movies did he make and when?? I'd like to know.......
  16. I got to catch a little of Dark Shadows.... (Everybody kept calling me?) Next time the phone goes off!! It seemed like a great movie though. I missed Mark of the Vampire and Return of the Vampire (which I really wanted to see) I've only caught a glimpse of "Return" and that was at 2 am about 3-4 years ago. Is this on DVD yet? I also seen Faster Pussycat Kill Kill!! It was a hoot. Those bad women with their fast cars and obviously voracious appetites. Me & my husband were really cracking up over the movie, and it was like Hadji said "you have to look at it like Mad Magazine" don't take it seriously. It's a kind of mockery and it was fun to watch. Thanks TCM!
  17. > RZ is not responsible for today's clothing styles, I > know that, but all of his predessessors are. There > was a time when 11, and 12 year olds could care less > about fashion, style, and music. Previous to this > generation of 11 and 12 year olds, that age still > played with dolls and jacks, while the boys thought > of nothing but sports and cars, girls were > UUUGGGHHH. Shopping for school clothes for > my FIRST grade 6 year old grandaughter, 90% of > the skirts and jeans were hip huggers. That's > disgraceful! MRSL: Just out of curiosity who are the predessessors? I think todays young girls are influenced by someone like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilerra. As far as clothes I have shopped for my now 9 yr old step daughter, since she was 2 1/2. I have always found cute little girl clothes, but inevitably when she comes home from a weekend with her Bio-mom, she is dressed in short shorts, tiny tees, too tight jeans and platform flip flops! I don't know why she dresses her like this. I don't think it is influenced musically, it is more laziness on the mom's part. I know you don't like Rob Zombie or horror, so I can understand your tired of the promos, also I just seen the women (now much older) from Faster Pussycat, I think they were happy to be getting recognition from that movie. But, they didn't sound like they were "real comfortable" when they were first offered the movie. At least 2 of them said they weren't.
  18. It has been awhile since I've seen Dracula on TCM, maybe 2 years ago they showed Return of the Vampire, I had woken up at about 3 a.m. and only glimpsed it. I have the Universal Dracula and Mummy collection, but on the Dracula DVD there is no Return of the V. Has anyone seen this movie on DVD? I can't wait to see Masque of the Red Death!! That is a great movie with Vincent Price at his best!!!
  19. But I do dislike little 11 year old girls walking around > in clothes that hookers of the 50's wore. e.g. in > the 80's my daughter was going to a Halloween party > and decided to dress like a hooker, after she was > done, she looked at herself in the mirror and said, > "Mom, this is how EVERYONE dresses normally to go > clubbing, and she was right! Do you really enjoy > seeing your daughter or niece showing off everything > they own to strange men on the street? Why do you > thing date rape is so prevalent nowadays? Guys are > getting messages that aren't really there. > Why can't they at least save the horror commercials for nighttime, when > we have gone to other channels to watch other stuff > if we don't care for newer movies? As a woman I > resented those three dizzy dames talking about how > Russ Meyer liked to show off a woman's boobs, and > wanted them to really push their endowments. What > did we burn our bras for, do you want to go back to > that mindset of being empty headed broads? MRSL: For decades now music has always influenced teenagers. Sometimes for the worse according to some people. But I don't think you can blame Rob Zombie for an 11 year old dressing promiscuously. At 11years old you should blame her parents! Children and teenagers should be able to mind their parents and wear what is appropriate. When I was a teenager, me and my friends dressed up for concerts in leather skirts, high heel boots and had a great time, we weren't the only ones. The concert was full of other teen age girls dressed the same way. Day to day dress was levis and concert t-shirts. My mother was strict (I couldn't have a boyfriend) but listening to my music and dressing up for the concerts was ok with her. It is all part of growing up, some of us still like that kind of music. I like everything from Brahms classical piano to the Doors and new alternative music. What I'm trying to say is lighten up, it's October and Halloween is coming and some of us really enjoy celebrating all month. Im glad TCM did something different for us who enjoy horror. Even cult films b grade are fun. As far as burning bras, we shouldn't forget. But, what is the harm in seeing these movies, will it change everything so drastically. Really it's only for what 3-4 hours late at night. Rob Zombie is not a bad guy and he does not promote date rape, or drugs. His music is about death & horror. Very appropriate for Halloween.
  20. I wish they would have started Rob Z out earlier this month. Like right from the first Friday of October. I'm sure there are enough movies he could have covered. This seems like a nice thread, I hope the negative one's don't come and try to spread there narrow minded views around! Can't wait for Friday!
  21. Dead, I am the one, exterminating son Slipping through the trees, strangling in the breeze Dead I am the sky, watching angels cry While they slowly, turn conquering the worm Song: Dragula by Rob Zombie Of the dead-dead who lies All perfumed there, With the death upon her eyes, And the life upon her hair Thus on the coffin loud and long I strike-the murmur sent Through the gray chambers to my song Shall be the accompaniment Edgar Allen Poe Angels to some / Demons to others : clive barker movie Hellraiser We may not all appreciate the same type of entertainment, but you have gone overboard. As far as music I really love White Zombie and Rob Zombie, I really love horror; old and new. Usually I prefer the old. As far as his image portraying the worst attitude the world has to offer: I cannot agree. I see what the world has to offer with racism, hatred and disdain for the poor and homeless. No way does Rob Z. portray the worst. When I can't take what the world has to offer in it's negative ways I can blast some Rob Z and feel great that I am different and not always accepted for what I wear and what I like. I can put on Dracula and lose my self in that movie. You have tolerance? People like myself or people who look like Rob Z don't need you to tolerate them. Your offended because we don't look like some mid-western house wife or someone who buys their clothes from LLBean. Anyone has the right to look and or be different, to judge someone because they have what you consider too many tatoos or wierd colored hair is very superficial on your part. This is a free country and we don't need to TOLERATE someone who would make sure we always wear the same clothes, cut our hair and join the narrow minded views you seem to have.
  22. IF YOU WANT A MID-MOVIE BREAK TURN OFF YOUR T.V.! OR WATCH AMC as far as tcm doing better, these movies are classic cult films, not main stream. so quite obviously not every one "likes" these movies. but they deserve to be shown, and rob knows his stuff..... KT
  23. I just wanted to say that Thank you to TCM for having Rob Zombie on as a host and for showing these movies. I really enjoyed Plan 9. I think Ed Wood had a great idea for his movie, sci-fi/horror, but not the big budget or the right actors. There is humor and wit on his side, albeit silly to an extent. I found the Tim Burton movie Ed Wood to be most informative and sad that a great actor like Bela Lugosi died the way he did. I have been a fan of Rob Zombie since his White Zombie's days. I always thought he was a fan of old/classic horror. White Zombie is the title to Bela Lugosi's 1932 movie. Also, in one of his songs the intro is part of an old horror movie, (can't think of the name). I definately feel Rob is totally appropriate and has a real interest in these movies. It is quite obvious he is a fan of horror since he has made his own (2) horror movies. I just wish it came on earlier, some Fridays I just can't keep my eye's open past 1am. Thanks, KT
  24. If you get any of the movie channels like Cinemax, they have 4 channels and on their Thrillermax they have showed old black and white movies sometimes. And on the Western Channel almost all the movies are old westerns. Out here the Western Channel is free along with the Mystery Channel and the True Channel if you get the Cinemax and Starz Channels. Just FYI.
  25. Can't wait to see Rob Zombie on TCM. I know some may disagree, but I think he is truly a fan of classic/and/other horror movies. His original band White Zombie was named after the Bela Lugosi movie in 1932, and some of his lyrics have original dialogue from older horror movies. I think he really values the whole genre of classic horror. Since I am a big fan of Horror movies and Halloween this is going to be a special treat!
