I can't believe that I forgot that movie, loved the old version with Maureeen and Brian and I loved the more recent version with Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson (Vanesa Redgrave's and Tony Richardson's daughter). Even the soundtrack in the more recent version is great. I remember Juliet from the "Nanny and the Professor" show.By the way, what was the name of the 'professor' in real life? I remember him playing the son in "Big Valley", I love that show.It was a showcase for such great talent;Barbara Stanwyck,Linda Evans and Lee Majors.I would mention the other brother but I need you to provide me his name Ken.

I would like to see classic interviews.ESPN has them,LIFETIME has had the old biograhies and interviews.I think something along the lines of both biographies and old interviews from classic stars compiled from the different interviews they have provided over the years would be a welcome addition to THE BEST CLASSIC CHANNEL on TV today.

It occurs to me that I have to make a correction on a previous post-----the movie I previously had titled as "A Beautiful Life",ia actually titled-"Life is Beautiful".I don't know what made me realize it but there you have it. A sad recent movie from last year is "Tristan & Isolde".

I loved Maureen O'Hara in "Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation",her pairing with Jimmy Stewart made for great entertainment.I can't remember her being in any other movie with Jimmy, can anyone else remember?
-
I forgot to mention one of my other favorite performances by Cary Grant, "An Affair To Remember",that is the period of time I found him to be his most handsome. That movie was the perfect vehicle for which to display his talent together with the great Deborah Kerr.

ALBERT MALTZ RED SCREENWRITER AND THE PRIDE OF THE MARINES !

You know what guys? I know that some of these threads have come to be monotonous and maybe this thread was originally thought to be a good idea,a way to add a different appeal, but it has turned into a politically biased battleground. I feel like we're walking in a minefield here. -
Hedy Lamarr: The Most Beautiful Star!
cinemabuff64 replied to GarboManiac's topic in General Discussions
These are some impressive pics of Ms.Lamarr. Het Garbomaniac,I found a 'NEW' favorite, the one that has the orangish toned background is amazing. Not only do you guys love her but the camera did as well. -
Hume Cronyn plays slimy slug characters really well.
cinemabuff64 replied to SamTherapy's topic in General Discussions
What was good about Hume was the fact that when he played a bad guy he always had that 'look' in his eyes, it transformed him into a whole 'other' person. When he played a good guy all he had to do was smile his million dollar smile and you believed he was good.I never knew that Jessica was married previous to Hume, my god, they were married a gillion years. What time did she have? -
Here's another SAD one, "Life as a House", it came out about 2-3 years ago with Kevin Kline,Kristin Scott Thomas and Hayden Christiansen. It was nominated for either the Golden Globes,Oscars or both.

Well, here goes my opinion,I happened to like WRITTEN ON THE WIND for its soap opera-ish take on the story. All of the actors did exceptional work, the direction seemed up to par,the cinematography was great, costumes were appropriate.I can't think of one thing bad about this movie.Rock Hudson is a plus in any movie.

Hume Cronyn was a very skilled actor,he proved his worth in each and every one of his movies,it was only natural that he marry such an exceptional actress and lady. -
I cannot believe that I haven't mentioned the movie, "A Beautiful Life".That movie had me crying throughout it's duration.I cried for the father,I cried for the mother, for the son, then I cried for the way the father pretended it was all a game when the nazis were torturing him in front of his son.He cleverly made everything into a game so the son wouldn't be afraid. To see that situation taking place and having the family within the same compound but unable to interact made for a desperate situation. It really is a good but SAD movie.

In MEMORIAM:Mike Douglass..favorite classic talk show host

Too bad that I cannot remember seeing that show,(so I guess I did miss one or two, LOL!)But I would have loved seeing Ginger in that format.I did see her in some other interview and found her to be so personable, entertaining with a great sense of humor. To me she was always elegant but at the same time had a spark to her.She is one of the few actresses who aged really well. There are some people that you see on one talk show and you don't feel you need to see again in any other, but I always liked to see her and never tired of her stories, insight, and just her enigmatic charisma. -
Hedy Lamarr: The Most Beautiful Star!
cinemabuff64 replied to GarboManiac's topic in General Discussions
I like the new pic of Hedy but I prefer the black and white one where she is wearing the hat, there is something about that picture that reaches out and captivates, the shading in that picture works wonders,I love how her right eye is slightly shaded by the hat. -

That's exactly what I did as per my last posting on that 'thread' for a long time. That thread turned into a ridiculous, meaningless use of words and time.Don't need it. -
