  1. GB you must see the two 'Grumpy' movies, they both came out in the 90's.The first one is "Grumpy Old Men", the second one is "Grumpier Old Men", you'll get to see Ann-Margaret in the first and second and Sophia Loren in the second.Talk about odd couple, they pair her off with the likes of Matthau in the second.Anyway, both movies are what comedies are about, they're old school charm and with the rapport between Lemmon -Matthau you can't go wrong.
  2. Yes, Cary Grant was married to Dyan Cannon, another example of an odd couple,as a matter of fact, she bore him his only child, Jennifer who looks a lot like her mother.I was amazed at her physique as well but she went a little overboard on the plastic surgery though. So, you haven't seen the 'Grumpy' movies?
  3. Okay, I'm kind of confused, which sister did she play? The reason I'm confused is because of my lack of knowing the name of the dark-haired sister (I think that is the one you guys are talking about, I remember the blonde one is SueEllen).I just don't remember if Scarlett is the second born or first born.
  4. Here I am with another one of my corrections: make or turn, that's what I get for trying to multi-task!
  5. Well,we could always make turn this into something anyway.....I used to watch the show back in he 70's, loved the rapport between Klugman and Randall but love it even more between Lemmon and Matthau,I like them in anything....Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men,Out to Sea,what else?. We could also take this thread another way, ODD COUPLE COUPLES: I nominate Ashton Kutcher-Demi Moore, can't readily think of any in the golden era...........this will give someone else GARBOMANIAC,JACKBURLEY,VECCHIOLARRY)a lead to add on to this thread, if they find it necessary,LOL!
  6. Well, I'll save you the trouble, it's on page three of this thread about halfway down,it was about your FASCINATION with Hedy.(what else? LOL!)
  7. Thanks for the information on angela Lansbury,I'll keep it in mind and tune in on Tuesday.
  8. I'm sorry, I am the guilty one who started the singer posts, but it was in passing, I ended a sentence with the word fascination and in parentheses put how it is one of my favorite songs and STONEYBURKE picked it up and we kind of just kept talking about classic singers, songs, remakes of classic songs, etc.Sorry GB didn't mean to take over your thread.
  9. I researched the Nat King Cole idea I had and, yes, he did also sing "Fascination",I would love to hear it by Jane Morgan, seems I heard her voice once in passing and someone told me it was her, don't have a lot of knowledge about her but am willing to expand it.What else did she sing?I know quite a lot about Dinah Shore singing, liked her talk show in the 70's,LOL! Oh, her boyfriend back then was cute to, Burt Reynolds,LOL!
  10. I don't remember seeing the Hitchkock cameo, in what part of the movie was it?
  11. I ws just going to say that, aside from "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof", the only other thing I've seen her in is The Flying Nun which I used to watch when I was a child.
  12. Hello Garbomaniac! Good to see you on.........Don't you think that Angela Lansbury looks somewhat like Bette Davis around the eyes?maybe even the shape of face.I think Lansbury is a good actress,is she still alive?
  13. Hey bradtexasranger,I agree with you,I love that movie and bought it a few years back.It is an example of everything coming together in unison and perfection. The script, the acting, the cinematography.editing,direction........flawless!
  14. Hello all!! I still defend Robert Osborne,he has charisma and a great amount of knowledge.........he speaks with both enthusiasm and professionalism.
  15. How about the scene in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" when Spencer and Katharine are in the living room with the prospective groom's family and he is speaking about love and time, etc. I can't quote the exact dialogue but their exchange of looks under both the situation in the movie and real life said it all, brought tears to my eyes.
  16. I selected the movie but can't seem to find any info.on the movie in either name. Can you provide any information?
  17. Correction:Donahue, used, my fingers are all over the place!
  18. I've always enjoyed watching Gene Kelly he had a liitle bit of everything to offer, he could act, dance, and I loved his expressive eyes and contagious smile. Others on your list that I agree with are;Paul Newman, he was in a league of his own,I still LOVE Shirley MacLaine, I've read a couple of her books on her various travels.I loved Sandra Dee and Troy Donahoe in "A Summer Place",never saw him in anything else, but Sandra was a little porcelain doll,so adorable and sweet.I could watch Rock Hudson in ANYTHING,he had charisma on both the big screen and the small screen, I usen to watch,"Macmillan & Wife" because of him. Here are a couple of other actors I would like to add;Jean Peters,Joanne Woodward,Robert Ryan, etc.
  19. DOLORES, sounds like you're a lot like me, I refuse to dispose of my VCR either,I figure if it still works, why get rid of it?There is also the fact that my hobby when I still lived in Houston up until 2002 was to buy used classic movies at pawn shops for a buck or two, needless to say, I have a collection of about 700 and that would be very costly to buy in DVD.I love my trustworthy VCR.I'm not very impressed with a lot of the modern technology, I just only last xmas was gifted with a pre-paid cell phone,(I find them a nuisance)my daughter bought it for me.I figure, I lived without it before and I didn't die.Oh, Two christmases ago she gave me a DVD, I hardly watch it unless I'm renting.
  20. Can you believe that just the other day my daughter and I were watching a movie and I watched the ending until the musical credits came up and the person who sang the song I liked was precisely Diana Krall.I don't remember the name of the song, remember it is a classic, and I just loved her voice. Before that, all I remember associating with her name is her husband,Elvis Costello, and reading the other day that she is pregnant with her first child at 41, so she is in my age gap.I'm going to see if Borders has any of her cd's because I am definitely interested in her voice and music.
  21. So, you know the first phrase, do you know who sings it? I'm going to look it up on line now to see what I can come up with.
  22. Hello Stoneyburke! in answer to your question about the song, "Fascination", I believe it was written in the 1940's (yes, I'm a classic music lover as well), the first version I heard was Julio Iglesias way back in the 80's when I first started living here on the island. My mother told me that it was a remake, I'm not sure if it is a Nat King Cole original, Tony Bennett, I can't remember. If you like Leonard Cohen you would like this song,it's a romantic song and if you cared to dance to it you could dance the waltz. Some of my favorite cd's in my collection are Nat King Cole,Billie Holliday,Perry Como, Tony Bennett,B.B. King,Frank Sinatra, I even have a Dean Martin with his greatest hits, That's amore! I purchased a Pavarotti cd in Houston once in a pawn shop and it is amazing, it's titled "PAVAROTTI & friends 2" it has an amazing mix of contemporary songs with their artists and great opera classics such as;AVE MARIA,O SOLE MIO,SANTA LUCIA LUNTANA.I like to listen to opera while I'm writing my poetry or short stories, etc.sometimes it's in the background while I'm here posting.
  23. Boy is it ever true, the association with the corporate woman and the testosterone, and it's really unbecoming, isn't it MattHelm?
  24. Now,that's more like it!!(she says some 10 hours later)...........
