It just seems to me that if you've seen most of your favorites two and three times it might be nice to see a 'new' one. Don't get me wrong I love the whole rich theme with chandeliers, etc., etc. But I , unlike you, love westerns.

At least we agree on this one. What about Jeanne Crain? Wasn't she a cutie?

"Wuthering Heights" will always be one of those classics that i will never tire to see.It is THE movie that got me into the classics in the first place.Laurence Olivier was the subject of my dreams when I was a little girl watching the movie with my mother.Even though I hated Merle Oberon(Cathy) for being so damned stuck up and materialistic, I also realized just how talented these two stars were. This was an all around great movie.I give it a 10!

I remember watching the Jonathan Winters show, he was creative and absolutely hillarious! I miss those type of shows;others in that category are, the Carol Burnette Show and Flip Wilson. They were the best shows of my generation. -
I cannot believe that you have never seen "Shenendoah"! It's a really great family movie with an exceptional cast, you have Doug McClure who played Travis on the" Virginian" TV show, Rosemary Forsyth who used to play on" Days of our Lives" in the 70's, Patrick Wayne, the Duke's son (whatever happened to him?) and the great Katharine Ross who played in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "The Graduate". You have to see this movie, it's about maintaining the family ties when the odds are against it.

James Stewart was great in "Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation", but what about in "Shenendoah "?He exemplified the perfect father.

I like Spencer Tracy in both "Father of the Bride", and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner."

All of the Esther Williams color movies are indeed splendid with color but what about the movie, "State Fair"?

When I think of the union of Norma Shearer/Irving Thalberg I feel like it must have been the old opposites attract type of thing. -

Ok, you're going to be so jealous but in the gas stations here we still have an attendant who puts the gas in for you, the town I live in has a small town square where a lot of the businesses are locally owned and we all know one another. As for the wooden floors, a lot of the houses here still have them. the wooden houses are my favorite but they aren't recommended because of the termite situation . There are several typical American businesses but we still have the small town quaintness. As for the music, I can understand, I love Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday,Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, etc. -

But you see, I am forever feeling nostalgic when I'm watching the classics, it's a strange combination of melancholy and familiar that always has me captivated and looking for more. -

That velvet wrap opera coat sounds familiar, didn't Vivien Leigh wear one in GWTW and Meryl Streep wore one in "The French Lieutenant's Wife"? I find that I definitely must get on the bandwagon with Norma Shearer. I haven't seen "The Divorcee".I remember seeing parts of one movie with her, the name is not known but I liked her style and her smile, she seemed very genuine. -
Can you give us the names of the movies from your collection? I would like to buy a couple for my collection.Other latin actors worth mentioning are;Jorge Negrete, Pedro Infante,Maria Felix,Katy Gurado ,a.k.a. the ex-Mrs. Ernest Borgnine. All of these were the greats of Mexican classics and are worth watching.

I have always said that I was born in the wrong century. All of my music and movie collection belongs to times long gone.I totally agree about the fashion, the flapper era was nice but the 30's, 40's were equally up there on my fashion scale. I would loved to have been one of those pioneer women who settled in the west and wrote novels. Speaking of hot, it's been pretty hot here, but, hey, I'm in the caribbean and we middle class people here only have ceiling fans, right now I have the ceiling fan on with two stand fans as well. The mosquitos are kind of bad from all the rain. I'm used to it all.I actually live a very quiet life in the country where you never here a police car siren and everyone lives with their doors open, it's all relaxing and refreshing and so far from the hussle-bussle. -

I just remember having read it and the picture that was used above the caption was one taken from "Private Lives" with both Burton and Taylor. -

The coke in the glass bottles seems to retain the flavor better plus cools better.Could it be that we like it better because that's the only way we drank it way back when? -

Ok, this is just an FYI thing but, do you know how at the bottom of the web page it says TCM Spain? well, I went on there hoping to chat in another forum from a spanish point of view and that web page is somewhat dark and dreadful and I didn't even see that they had a forum. -

Isn't that taken from a Eugene O'Neill play that was also done by Burton and Taylor on stage?
