  1. This timeless piece definitely sounds like something we should all add to our collection.I hope they bring it to TCM.
  2. Be careful, sounds like you should change your name to lamarrmaniac, Ha! Ha! The last picture you sent is my favorite. About Dolores Del Rio, I already posted a message on that thread. It just so happens that she and I go way back.
  3. You hit the jackpot w/ me because when I was growing up in Houston there was a local spanish station and since my Mom is Puerto-Rican she would always watch the Saturday classics and lo and behold she introduced me to the very talented Dolores Del Rio. By the same token she did the same with Pedro Armendariz and another one but I forgot his name, I'll get back to you on that one.The spanish classics were just as glorious as the english ones and sometimes more so. I didn't even know spanish back then but I still was enthralled. Dolores always played down and out roles or romantic leads.I remember her very well and yes she was very beautiful.I figure I had the best of both worlds.
  4. You know I never mentioned Doris Day before because I just figured that they were looking for more classic actors.I love DD and have quite a collection of her work. Her movies were always light and easy to both the eyes and ears. talk about all- American she would be my choice with Betty Grable coming in a close second.
  5. I actually miss the Lone Star state most days.My mother was born and raised here but my father was 100% American, whatever that may be(Ha! Ha!). Well my father's ancestors were of German descent.Everyone always takes me for either German or Irish but ironically I took after the fair-skinned light eyed family on the Puerto-Rican side.Needless to say, I'm the only red haired green eyed person for miles and miles. What gets me is that most people take me for not knowing spanish and I'll catch them talking bull and I leave a hint that I'm 100% bilingual and they turn red.I've had to learn not to take crap from people here, the local women are very submissive and dependant on the men in the family. My being raised American I am very much the contrary.
  6. I can't believe that I forgot about the eternally beautiful and equally talented Sophia Loren. She is something special.
  7. What about how amazingly gorgeous Omar Sharif was in "Dr. Zhivago"? He has THE most expressive eyes ever!
  8. I was on the forum earlier in the evening and I saw a lot of movement, you were on but we've been having torrential rains here for almost two months and today it was combined with a lot of thunder and lightning and it knocked the lights out.I was only on the computer because The force of the rain had made me lose my satellite signal, it happens a lot but there is no cable TV way up on the mountain where I live.
  9. What a coincidence, we posted at the same time............I was going to say I love your pics, where do you get them from? And now the second one! amazing!!
  10. Gee, could it have anything to do with the fact that she wasn't a brunette?Ha! Ha!
  11. What you said about Lombard reminds me of something I posted on another thread.I included her as being one of the top three favorites due not only to her beauty but her vivacious personality and sense of humor (that in itself is attractive!) She seemed like a handful yet at the same time she was intelligent and endearing.
  12. Even though I know that this thread is about the beautiful Hedy I will have to agree that Maureen O'Hara is equally pretty in a different kind of way.Ever since I was a little girl I always loved watching Maureen, she seemed so sure of what she wanted and at times she was very maternal.I always told myself that I would dye my locks red when I grew up and I would try to be like her.I looked up to her.
  13. Entertainment is ever evolving........before films there was radio, before radio there was vaudeville.
  14. Wasn't that back in the day when Jack Haley Jr. was married to Liza Minnelli?
  15. By the way, whatever happened to Barbara Seagull/Hershey?I haven't seen her in the longest.
  16. I had forgotten about L. Darnell, she was cute and so was Jean Simmons, did you like her?Loretta Young was a gorgeous brunette, borderline blonde. As far as actresses today the blondes seem to dominate the box office.
  17. Reading your entry reminds me of what I'm always saying to my kids,"Back when I was little we only had one TV and we all had to share".Of course they can't fathom that idea because most houses have a TV in every room, ours is a three TV home since they over used the fourth one and it konked out.
  18. Like always, thank you Garbomaniac.I do have to reacquaint myself w/ Ms. Garbo so I will do as suggested. The only problem would be if Borders doesn't carry the movie, where I live that is THE ONLY place that sells classic movies.
  19. LuckyDan: I see you are from Dallas, I was born and raised in Houston and lived in El Paso a while and I think that Maurenn O'Hara, though Irish, exemplified the attitude of a lot of Texan belles, don't you think?
  20. I'm sorry that I can't help you with your query but I happen to like the sax and scenes before the movie, they're unique and fitting of the times.
  21. continued...............Think of Maureen O'Hara in "Miracle on 34th Street" and get back to me on that one.
