Oh my God! Madeleine Carroll was a doll, she looks somewhat like Jean Harlow. What types did she play? was she street the whimsical type like Monroe or the wisecracking type like Harlow? I have a question....on page (3) of this thread, who is the starlet between Elizabeth and Hedy?
-
So, Garbomaniac....... Which half would you say her talent came from and which half did her beauty come from?
-
Ok,now my just posted previous comment makes no sense,we were all posting at the same time. Hey Ken......would you safely say that Rita's IRISH half was her prettiest?
-
Okay guys,I guess I take things too seriously.I get the joke. I forgot that to Ken all that is pretty HAS TO BE IRISH! Ha! I haven't had a chance to check out all of the pics but will do so now and get back to you. You guys are too much! Now there are two of you! What am I going to do?

Who had the prettiest face in movies, past or present?

I believe I said this a couple of months back but the name Madelein Carroll doesn't ring a bell with me,could be that I might have seen her but the name didn't stick. Can you pull a picture out of your magical hat? The other poster who mentioned Julianne Moore is so right, she has a natural beauty, sweetness and a great smile.Keira is pretty but too SKINNY.Renee is also pretty and has great charm, but she's not aging too well. -
Correct me if I'm wrong but I always heard that Rita was latin with a last name of CANSECO. That would explain here amazing dancing ability. BTW,great pic of Rita, smoldering and breathtaking.

Sorry I didn't include your two favorite ladies but they have had more attention compared to a few I mentioned. There are probrably others but they don't come to mind at the moment,I have my head in the books for two tests I have on Saturday.I'm just taking a break. See! I can multi-task!! -

I just want to take this moment to to praise your informative/creative postings. Who needs a TV when we have such entertaining and descriptive information? The Travel Channel should give you a spot and I guarantee it will be a ratings success. I'll be the first one to watch.Keep 'em coming Larry!!

LD along with Ken used to be practically the only ones on late night. It's too bad he disappeared,he seemed like a nice person with a lot of contributive knowledge of the silver screen. Maybe he'll come back just like we did,at the spur of the moment.Maybe he hasn't yet found his 'moment'.
-
Okay,ready? Time's up!! It's LuckyDan

Hey Garbo..... Guess who I realized has been absent from the forum....... He's from my home state....see if you can guess,Ken might know...... see if either of you can guess.

Just wanted to say "Thank you for the welcome,it is most appreciated".Welcome back to you as well.We all missed you,as you know. More than I can say about me.....Not even one person noticed I was gone,Ha! Oh! Thank you for the Maureen pics on 'my' thread! Peace to all.........

What little experience I've had with anything Russian has left me impressed..... I find them to be such creative, passionate, articulate people.

I think it only proper that I stop by this thread. As we all know Maureen is one of my favorite actresses.I see that she is popular with a few other regular posters here. It's good to be back and to see that things appear to be back to 'normal' ,whatever that is. At least some of our other favorites stuck it out to the very end,for that a big thank you and an endless admiration for both their high tolerance level and enduring patience. Not to mention their devotion! I hope that we can all learn from our mistakes and look ahead to keeping this forum alive for all to contribute, no matter their color, religion, race,or even sexual preference.

Michael Parks is another one that I haven't seen in a while.

It's really sad about Edward Albert.I always thought he should have done more.He had talent and he was easy on the eyes, speaking of which, his were gorgeous! I saw him often in TV movies when I was little in the 70's and I remember reading way back then that he was dating Kate Jackson from Charlie's Angels. What is his last movie about?
-
Hello Garbomaniac!! Long time no post!! In response to what you said about things being peaceful again, that's exactly why I'm back....for as long as it stays that way. As usual, great pics! We could use a couple more Maureen ones though,Ha!

Hedy Lamarr: The Most Beautiful Star!
cinemabuff64 replied to GarboManiac's topic in General Discussions
To all of my fellow posters: To think that I used to come to this thread to 'shoot the breeze'. This used to be a place/thread where anyone could come for some feel good 'light' conversation which always included a common rapport talking about Hedy and a little bit of everything or nothing. That was the beauty of this thread.I'm appalled to see, that after a few days away from the same,it has turned into another "If you can't say something nice" thread which everyone turned into a battleground. I just spent a wasted 20 minutes reading the senseless, argumentative bs that has been posted in my absence.I just can't believe it! Who has time for this?If you have an excess of time don't you think it could better be employed for anything on a positve level? To top things off, this was all done on GARBOMANIAC'S thread,a person who has only posted intelligent, informative, witty and thoughtful posts on this thread and any other thread. To me it's the same as going into someone's house uninvited and raising havoc. I hope that you all come to your senses. We all should have a common respect for one another, first of all just for being human beings, regardless of what we've been through or have yet to go through. It's like any other social exchange in any other setting, there have to be rules of behavior applied. There has to be a common courtesy and exchange between all participants Until this is done, this forum is meaningless and not worth the time and effort. It makes me wonder if I would ever want to be a part of this anymore....... -
Hello Ann! I wholeheartedly agree with what you say about Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro and Martin Scorcese. They are bound for immortality. I used to have a 'crush' on Pacino back in his Serpico days, whew! the beard and moustache, the long hair, even though he is short he always stands tall with me. He is one of THE most talented actors in the last thirty years and he should own at least two more golden statuettes. Robert DeNiro comes in a close second, any role he's given is magical,he captivates.

Hedy Lamarr: The Most Beautiful Star!
cinemabuff64 replied to GarboManiac's topic in General Discussions
You're right!! The song,"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"; was sung by both The Beatles and Elton John.My friends always say that song is about me. At any rate,I think that Hedy's eyes are blue-green.How about you? What's with the caricature?'She' looks like the lady on the Bullwinkle cartoon, what is her name? LOL!!!!! -
I agree that Richard Widmark was a very good and consistent actor. I never found him to be overly handsome but I always appreciated his skill and technique. He had a unique voice as well.

Hedy Lamarr: The Most Beautiful Star!
cinemabuff64 replied to GarboManiac's topic in General Discussions
If you look really closely at the last picture her eyes almost look blue-grey but they could be like mine,at first instance they look blue but up close they are green.Well, actually they're kind of strange ,they have the outer line dk. blue then light green then the center are somewhat yellow/hazel.She could also have 'kaleidoscope eyes' . Ha! -

Hello all, I figrured her eyes to be green. -
John Barry is very good for the ones you mentioned and others. Other good ones are,Marvin Hamlisch,John Williams,Enrico Morricone,Henry Mancini (who doesn't love "Moonriver?), Burt Bacharach, I know there are more. I'll come back later, I can't remember right now.
