  1. Brad I agree with you about "Titanic",I found it to be very sad and accurate as far as the events that lead to its demise. On the same note,I also liked "A Night to Remember",both are very good movies. There is a third, made for TV version,I believe with Catherine Zeta-Jones from a few years back.It is also a good movie. I would like to also mention another sad movie, "AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER",although this movie ended on a happy note, most of the time it leaves you desperate for Cary and Deborah and their situation.
  2. I just thought of another movie that drives you to tears,"Steel Magnolias".
  3. Hello SusannO! I agree with you about "City of Angels",that is another example of a love unfullfilled. I also agree with you about the other movies you mentioned, a lot of the Disney movies are so traumatic.Aside from the ones you mentioned there is also "Lion King", when the father dies the whole movie does a 360.
  4. About the pics, what's taking you so long? What are you going to do for your B'day?anything special?
  5. I did not know that about the Grand Marshall stint. I love St.Paddy's day celebrations!!green beer, irish jig, corned beef and cabbage......yummy!
  6. First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU..... Second of all,why is this thread at the bottom?Hedy is too fine a lady to be in such a position. Only tops for her, besides Garbomaniac would definitely NOT approve and if he doesn't approve neither do I.
  7. With the overload I have this semester in both English and Spanish I will probably have to wait for xmas break, break? Who said it was a break? We all know that we women work the most on the holidays such as Thanksgiving and xmas, right Susan?
  8. Alfred Hitchkock John Huston John Ford Howard Hawks These are just a few of mine in no certain order George Stevens Steven Spielberg Clint Eastwood Barbra Streisand Jim Sheridan
  9. Hello Susan, Nice to see you on here again! As I was mentioning to Ken on a previous thread, that I purchased her book about 2 yrs. ago and have not had a chance to read it. Maureen has always seemed to have good business savvy. That along with her no nonsense way of being are some of her more attractive character traits, wouldn't you agree? I didn't realize that she had been on Larry King, was this recently?
  10. Well hello Garbomaniac!! Hello TCM friends! Long time no 'read' Ha! Something told me to stick my head in here,,just in time, the pictures are really good, thanks for keeping my thread going while I'm away.
  11. I don't think it sounds queer in the least bit, come on Ken,ease up!
  12. CORRECTION: ALSO,you know what I mean.
  13. "Gunsmoke" reruns are NOW playing on the TVLand channel as are the "Bonanza" ones and I still enjoy them even more than when I was a little girl. I happen to be a western fan whether on TV ot the BIG SCREEN or in books. I am looking forward to buying the new Larry McMurtry one out.I can't remember the full name but has something to do with 'Telegraph'. I alos enjoy the Louis L'Amour books.
  14. I really did like the movie though. It had its sad moments.Jimmy was good in sad movies. Garbomaniac and I were mentioning on another thread about the old TV westerns and I remember that Doug McClure (there you go,IRISH) played in both "The Virginian" and "Shenandoah".
  15. Explain how he copied John Ford.
  16. Thanks for your help Snarfie! The veil one is great but I still prefer the 'hat' pics. I like the one with her mother, shows her in a different scenario. Hey Garbomaniac, you and Ken123 and Snarfie and JackBurley are needed on the thread below this one.....about "Old Movie" title. That goes for you to,Stoneyburke.
  17. They say that word games are good for the prevention of Alzheimers. We jumped the scramble and went directly to the memory. That has to be good for the same, don't you think?
  18. Hello inglis! Good to hear from you. Please see "Life As A House",except if you have recently had a person you know/love die of cancer. The movie is about how Kevin's character knows he hasn't long to live.He proceeds to build a house.Kevin is divorced,(from Kristin Scott Thomas) never remarried and has a strained relationship with his rebellious teenage son who lives with his mother, her new 'perfect' husband and new 'perfect' kids. The whole idea is that "Life As A House' because while they build the father's and ex-wife's dream house, they also 'build' a new relationship. There is a surprise in the movie, but do not want to spoil it for you.Kevin Kline is his usual exceptional self. Every moment in this movie is brimming with sadness,of a life that was lost, regained and lost again (in death).
  19. Now I remember! I I had forgotten about about Peter Breck, but, you know,he didn't seem to mesh with the others. Hey Garbomaniac,"The Virginian" made for great TV as well. What do you think?
  20. My only response is I really can't think of anything right now. But, stick around though,I'm sure that JackBurley can help you or Garbomaniac, they are very knowledgeable in such matters. Good luck, hope you find out.
  21. Hello Snarfie! Where are the pictures you mentioned?
  22. The appropriate frame for such a picture would most likely be an ornate, intricate, antique silver one which would have silver roses shining from each corner. The perfect picture needs a perfect frame.
  23. Well, I can now say that some form of 'normalcy' has been restored around here, hello Garbomaniac! These two pictures are simply and truly a WORK OF ART,and I love and appreciate art. You can't help but love and appreciate Hedy.
