  1. I ADORE both of them!!!! They both do a wonderful job of presenting the movies we LOVE!!!!!!
  2. I agree that Gladys Cooper was a wonderfully talented actress. She played the cold-hearted mother just perfectly in "Now, Voyager".
  3. Marilyn Monroe Bette Davis Sterling Hayden Paul Henried Claude Rains Clark Gable
  4. p.s. Thanks, Mongo for posting birthdays.
  5. My mom used to watch the late-night movies on the limited channels available in the 70's, and I grew up watching readily-available films such as "Gone With The Wind" and "It's a Wonderful Life" with her. That was probably the start of my love for classics. My beautiful mother passed away in '88. I didn't think much about the classics until '96 when I happened to watch "Norma Jean & Marilyn", an HBO film about Marilyn Monroe's life. After watching that, I started buying Marilyn's films as well as many other classic movie actors' films. It has snowballed into (10 yrs later) a wonderful hobby. There are absolutely no more better films than the classics!
  6. I consider "Angels with Dirty Faces" a noir. It has drama, darkness and sadness. I cry at the end every time!
  7. I think The Petrified Forest is a beautiful example of film noir. It has it all...Bogie as the gangster, romance, pain, darkness. Perhaps it was a film ahead of its time!
  8. I've only seen a handful of the ones mentioned, but they are great! You've given me ideas on ones I will buy next. My faves are: 1. The Asphalt Jungle (it is the perfect crime drama with a perfect cast IMHO. Sterling Hayden ROCKED as a gangster!) 2. The Petrified Forest (Bogart swinging his arms is classic!) 3. Mildred Pierce (I guess it's kinda considered a noir) 4. The Postman Always Rings Twice (it's so sad but also entertaining!) 5. The Maltese Falcon 6. Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
  9. I love Cagney! Recently I watched "The Bride Came C.O.D. for the first time, and it was so funny! He was an incredibly talented actor.
