On Svengoolie tomorrow, September 4, 2021: When I was a little kid, my friend's father took my friends and me to a Chinese restaurant on 170th Street in the Bronx, after which he took us to a bakery to get Charlotte Russes. Then he took us to a very enjoyable double bill at the Luxor Theater: The Amazing Colossal Man and The Attack of the Puppet People. But I don't think I knew there was this sequel to the former film.

Well, I had a look at the new designs, etc., and I like them! I've often felt that much of the TCM design was way too "Noir-centric," meaning it raised the Noir genre to pride of place. I like Noir, I'm just not as obsessed by the genre as some. I just heard Ben's little reassuring speech, which should set us all at ease. I like the set design, but I want to know if those books on the shelf in the distance behind him are real, and if so, what are they?

I feel that the person quoted in the OP's post has too much affection for the early films of John Huston. I enjoy those Huston films but feel he did not achieve greatness until very late in his career, with Wise Blood (1979) and, particularly, with his final film, The Dead (1987). Both films actually demonstrate the influence of John Ford on Huston. (I'm sticking with the actual nominees. In my "no opinion" years, the best films were not nominated.) 1940 The Grapes of Wrath (Rebecca is a one of Hitchcock's weaker films.) Regarding The Grapes of Wrath, I feel that Ford is a greater filmmaker than Steinbeck is a writer. Lucille Ball's first film is a film in which she has such a small role that it's hard to tell it's her. She plays the uncredited role of "Blonde" in The Bowery (1933), a snappy, jolly New York City gay nineties film directed by Raoul Walsh, which can never, ever, be shown on TCM. It's on YouTube though, and just one look at the very first frame of the film will show you one of several reasons why it can't be shown.

I'm not sure. What I do is log on and select the movie on my phone or laptop, then connect it to my TV with an HDMI cable, if I want to watch on my TV. But I usually don't mind watching on my laptop, because I can use my AirPods, which I can't do with my TV, which I believe is smart but not quite smart enough. My cable company is RCN. This service, which comes with my cable, is called RCN2Go, the point being you can watch a lot of stuff wherever you are. But since it's material not available on TV at the moment, I tend to watch at home. You have to log in -- most cable companies are noted, so I guess most participate in this.

I just did a search and found an article that said TCM has been sold. To read the article, I would have to join a site (Media Post), which I didn't want to do.
