  1. Bad Spot! You know better than to eat that junk.
  2. In Give Me a Sailor Martha Raye co-starred with Betty Grable, and, as a humorous twist, it was Martha Raye's character who won a beautiful legs contest. I believe that the two actresses switched legs for close ups-lol.
  3. I forgot to add Katherine Hepburn to my original list - she's hilarious in Bringing up Baby.
  4. I enjoy Virginia O'Brien both as an actress and as a singer. My favorite acting appearances are Merton of the Movies, Ship Ahoy and Harvey Girls, but my favorite singing appearances are the skits she does in Thousands Cheer - I recommend this movie for O'Brien singing at its funniest.
  5. I cast my vote for The Quiet Man. The color is stunning: emerald green grass, flaming red hair, etc. This movie just wouldn't be the same in B&W.
  6. "Smoke gets in my eyes - but you gets in my hair." -We're not Dressing
  7. In my opinion, brothers can definitely be buddies as is the type of relationship I referenced in Hell's Angels.

  12. That's basically what I'm looking for. I am hoping to lean more heavily toward the dramatic; noble friendships like is seen in A Tale of Two Cities. I know there are dozens of such films and thought it would be an interesting topic to explore. On this forum, much attention is given to romantic pairings but little to friendships. 13. I remember seeing this scene in the movie "Star Spangled Rythm" its just a skit and a very small part of the movie. If you've not seen the movie I suggest that you do - the entire film is very funny. http://tcmdb.com/participant/participant.jsp?participantId=13549|155169&afiPersonalNameId=null Message was edited by: BallofFire
  14. I saw a short once wherein a woman was dancing in a bird cage and was all dressed in feathers-it was surreal and so disturbing.
  15. When someone hears the term "buddy movie" generally ideas ranging from Bing and Bob to Bill and Ted immediately come to mind. However, I have been doing some thinking recently about those dramatic films which exhibit a noble friendship such as that of David and Jonathan or Gilgamesh and Enkidu. The four that readily spring to mind are: Hell's Angels -1930 Dawn Patrol -1938 Gunga Din -1939 The Man Who Would Be King -1975 What others can you think of? BTW- isn't it interesting how female friendships have been immortalized by such movies as The Women and Stage Door ? Message was edited by: BallofFire
  16. I saw it once years ago - it's rather depressing as Hope movies go but not bad. Message was edited by: BallofFire
