Black and white, two daughters live on a farm with their father. The mother is committed in an asylum. The youngest daughter makes a scarecrow to protect her garden and dresses him in old men's clothing. One day a prisoner escapes from a nearby prison, ends up on the farm, changes out of his prison uniform into the scarecrow's clothes and is then shot by the father. He is just injured, for whatever reason the father and older daughter decide to nurse him back to health. The younger daughter see's him in the clothes and thinks her scarecrow has come to life (she may be a bit nutty like her mother) and they become friends. The older sister then strikes up a little romance with the prisoner, the younger daugther witnesses this and is devasted, runs to the gates of her mother's asylum and wants to be let in. Father comes and picks up up, takes her back to farm. Police show up, prisoner runs from police, subsequently falls off a cliff to his death and lands in a "T"position on the ground (like the scarecrow). My description makes the film sound a little hokey, but the film was great. I'd love to find out what it is called. Anyone know this one???
