  1. Well of all the movie versions of all Broadway musicals that have ever been done in Hollywood I can think of no other one besides My Fair Lady that sums up all the charm, excitement, and buoyancy that I would appreciate in a, well, Broadway musical.

Audrey Hepburn is awesome, much better than Julie could ever have hoped to be, Rex Harrison is magnificent, and so is the rest of the cast. I love George Cukor's direction for being a fine example of understatement, restraint and elegance.

If only they could still make such magnficient musicals in Hollywood!

As for JA, well, I used to have mixed feelings about her at best but after being subjected to the constant spamming of useless and pointless photos, the sight of her is almost enough to make me puke.

She only starred in two decent musicals so her influence on movie musicals is marginal at best.

  2. A very well articulated post, NZ. I don't agree with you on some details but I do agree on the overall idea.

Unfortunately, common sense seems to elude the big honchos at the top of the media conglomerates who are ultimately the ones who could help bring about the change. The folks in charge of the studios are just hired hands and they'll probably prefer to play it safe and hold on the their jobs as long as possible, even if that means not making waves and not taking any chances.

  3. The Mummy was a horrible movie, too much CGI and other effects. Tis a shame that it wasted the charm of fine actors like Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

A much better action movie is Lawrence of Arabia, which is dazzling, riveting and deeply intellectual at the same time.

  4. I actually very much liked the approach they took... to make a documentary would have included lots of interviews with anti-fast food advocates but in all likelyhood the people from the fast food companies would have said "no comment" and simply deny any possibility of wrongdoing on their part.

With a dramatized approach, we can take a look at the people inside the industry and why they do the things they do, and how much they fail to do to prepare better food and provide for better working conditions.
