  1. Well, I'm sure Brando was lucky not to get too close to 'em.
  2. Yup, "Paranoia Pete" must be in a cranky mood again. Can't imagine why anyone would be cranky all the time!
  3. It would have been a great way to cap his career, given his unfortunate and untimely death
  4. I think her paranoia must be getting worse. Hope someone will remind her about her meds.
  5. Obviously the points Sacha was trying to make in criticizing the right wing and the Bush administration went entirely over some people's heads... but those that got the joke sure had a barrel of laughs!
  6. Well, at least she'll probably be thinking... "I coulda had class... I coulda been a pretender".
  7. And I also think at least one of them forgot to take her morning medication!
  8. Well I don't have figures handy but I think Borat did easily 5 or 6 times as much business as ND.
  9. Mmm now that I think about it it's perfectly possible Marlon had not one, but 2 jilted pretenders from the boards...
  10. Yeah, I can't wait till they show Scandal at Scourie again on TCM, Garson & Pidgeon and all those cute kids make for a very entertaining movie, just the kind of family-friendly fare L.B. would have enjoyed himself!
  11. If it comes out on DVD -- or is shown on TCM -- I'll definitely watch again!
  12. Well, considering who else has released it on DVD, I'd have to say it's a no-brainer, I'd pick up the Criterion copy in a snap. It includes both cuts of the movie and a ton of extras: DISC ONE: THE ORIGINAL THEATRICAL VERSION # New digital transfer of the original theatrical version # The Movie That Wouldn?t Die! The Story of Carnival of Souls: a documentary on the 1989 reunion of the cast and crew # More than 45 minutes of rare outtakes accompanied by Gene Moore?s organ score # Theatrical trailer # An illustrated history of the Saltair resort in Salt Lake City # The Carnival Tour: a video update on the film?s locations # English subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired # Optimal image quality: RSDL dual-layer edition # DISC TWO: THE EXTENDED DIRECTOR?S CUT # Selected audio commentary by screenwriter John Clifford and late director Herk Harvey # One hour of excerpts from films made by the Centron Corporation, an industrial film company based in Lawrence, Kansas that employed Harvey and Clifford for over 30 years # An essay on the history of Centron from Ken Smith?s Mental Hygiene # Printed interviews with Harvey, Clifford, and star Candace Hilligoss, illustrated with vintage photos and memorabilia # English subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired # Optimal image quality: RSDL dual-layer edition http://criterioncollection.com/asp/release.asp?id=63
  13. There's no question about it -- an Eleanor Powell DVD box set would be absolute music-lover's paradise! What just with the two Broadway Melody movies from the 30's, Born to Dance and possibly Honolulu you'd have one heck of a package!!!
  14. I just realized one of the great things about Invitation to the Dance -- the fact that it was shelved for 4 years means it was one of the few (if any) movies filmed in the old Technicolor process that was released by the late 50's, as studios were changing to other color processes.
  15. Well I'm sure there'll be plenty of things for her to do that don't require her opening her mouth!
  16. > Out of these 4 musicals, the one I'm most excited > about is Strike Up the Band. I know this going to be > packed with extras: vintage musical & regular shorts, > trailers, and featurettes. Sounds wonderful!
  17. Words and Music just ended - love watching the whole sequence with GK and Vera-Ellen said over at the bar... the clips they show you in That's Entertainment only have the interior sequences. It's nice to follow the action from the street and into the bar.
  18. Danny, you wouldn't happen to have any more GK photos?
  19. Whale Rider was awesome! Loved that little tyke!
  20. The scene, itself, has never turned up, and it's doubtful that it still exist, but one should never say "never." Indeed, never say never again
  21. I would also like to see Being There; I've read that Sellers considered this film to be an opportunity to use all his acting talents, not just his comedic ones. Yes, and he got a well-deserved Oscar nomination for his performance!
  22. HI Mrsl.....I always laugh reading your posts about Brando. You have such a dislike for him - are you one of his ex-wives, mistresses or girlfriends??? LOL The cat is out of the bag!!!
  23. > Not to mention that most of the GOOD movies were > made before there was color! > > Considering that the first two-strip Technicolor > appeared in 1916, and several hand-tinting processes > at least twenty years before that, I have to disagree. LOL I'd say the selection of movies would have been somewhat limited "before there was color"!
