If the show didn't do as well as could be expected it could be due to any number of reasons, especially since it isn't the best-known R&H musical.

In that case it was just paid advertising

Those would have looked awesome in Technicolor

Well thanks again for the reminder I'll be sure to TiVo this on Thursday.

Gene Kelly .vs. Fred Astair... Who is better in your book??
Cinemascope replied to CaNaDaGiRl14's topic in Your Favorites
It was a very friendly rivalry, if that. I got a big kick out of watching them dance together onscreen one final time in That's Entertainment, Part 2. -
Who Gave the most menacing performance you remember?
Cinemascope replied to a topic in General Discussions
Maybe not quite the *most* menacing, but Paul Scofield does an awful good job as the Nazi Colonel obsessed with looting France's art treasures in John Frankenheimer's The Train. You can see the pure hatred in his eyes, and his willingness to kill as many innocent French civilians as may be necessary to achieve his goal. -
Klaatu... Barada... Nikto!

Maybe you didn't miss much?

Aside from being mysteries involving private eyes?

It could do that - but at what cost?

Disagreement is not an insult in my experience.

Can't answer for those who take a friendly sign in the wrong way. I'm still of the firm opinion that people can disagree vehemently with each other over some issues and still respect each other as human beings.

Sorry, hun, the term "hun" is not meant to be taken in any other way than simply a friendly way to address someone whose participation in a discussion you appreciate. I can't imagine why you'd interpret that any other way. Same as calling someone "pal" or "friend".

SCHINDLER'S LIST was actually photographed in color, for two different reasons. One is that, over the decades in which fewer and fewer black-and-white films were made, the number of negative b&w film stocks dwindled to the point that Spielberg and his cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, felt that those still made offered an insufficient range of tonal values to achieve all that they envisioned for the movie and, secondly, in case Speilberg and Universal got cold feet at the last minute as to the film's boxoffice prospects if released in black-and-white. Wonder if Steven Soderbergh thought about that when making A Good German. Especially since he was his own DP.

LOL that's a good one, thanks for the laugh

Awww hun that's sweet of you. Honestly, why do *some* people have to assume ill intent when there is none? It's a wacky world we live in.

But Remo was by far the hit of the event and for at least three years when ever we held a Bad Movie Marathon, Remo was there. Wish I could have watched the Remo soundie!

Beach Becket Bingo? Sounds like a sure-fire hit!

Galaxy chanel or scifi theater by TCM what do you think?
Cinemascope replied to hookedonscifi's topic in General Discussions
It's an idea that could work, although there could definitely be problems in getting rights to some ofthe movies and/or TV series. For example I don't know how often TCM could show The Day the Earth Stood Still because it's a Fox title that usually only shows on FMC. But, then again, they did get to show 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea even though not many live-action Disney movies have been shown before. I think that to some degree they've tried to do that with the "TCM Underground" but on a much more far-ranging basis. The other problem is demographics, a lot of people who like sci-fi like primarily recent fare, with only occasional interest in stuff from the 60's and 50's. And a lot of us would like to concentrate on the older fare, not so much on the recent sci-fi. It's possible, and it would be great if there was a practical way to pull it off. -
Ah whatever happened to freedom of religion? It is one of the basic principles upon which this great country was founded.
-
You are mistaken, there is no exasperation at all, just a very patient attempt to try to get an idea across and the sincere hope that the other person will understand that just because I disagree with them, it doesn't mean there should be any animosity there.

Well they could at least establish a special website with the same content, accessible only thru password?
