No, I didn't suppose you'd be up to the challenge of writing even a mini-bio for others to enjoy.
-
I don't know how old I was when I first watched it, but it definitely scared the living daylights out of me. So I think it would definitely be up to the parent to try to determine whether or not their young children might be old enough to watch movies like this or Bambi, which can also be quite shocking.

sing-a-longs are fun

-
Of course, nothing like a good Blackglama ad....
-
It's a shame nobody has written a bio for Jane Trahey on imdb.com, isn't it? Someone who had something to contribute would probably be very happy to write one up and submit it.

On Monday, March 12th, the Gene Kelly salute as Star of the Month will continue with many wonderful musicals:
Singin' in the Rain
On the Town
It's Always Fair Weather
Cover Girl
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Anchors Aweigh
Private Screenings: Stanley Donan
It'll be particularly delightful to see On The Town and its semi-sequel It's Always Fair Weather back to back, and a repeat of the Stanley Donan interview with RO will also be interesting to watch

What might be the chances that some of the movies mentioned in the Salute to the Theaters could be shown in the near future on TCM? I'd be particularly delighted to see The Glass Slipper.

Wow, yet another reason to watch the Marlon Brando documentary!

Thanks for the tidbit MGMWBRKO

-
And what do you have to contribute to this thread, which before you posted, had been inactive for about 2 hours?
-
Heh, all of them?

Well at least all the MGM ones. There's a few RKO ones that hopefully will also be released, like Irene with Ray Milland.
-
It had been my impression that the WebAdmin had largely taken a hands-off approach but, at any rate, if thee are women who could be the subject of further verbal abuse, then don't you think they ought to at least be aware of this? For their own protection?
-
Hello? Greta Garbo had already retired.
Nice dialogue with the old sock-puppet, you dirty old man.
-
This is a helpful site which includes info on DVD releases on both sides of the Atlantic:
Of course if you have a regular DVD player you'll only be interested in R1 DVDs which can be played here in the U.S. -- not in R2's that can only play on PAL-compatible R2 players.

Anyways, the fact that he and Brownlow are going to have a face to face meeting to see if they can work it out so that Browlow can bring his version (with the Carl Davis score) to the States is hopeful news.
Well, yes!

To the extent that Coppola's cooperation is apparently required, let's hope they can strike some sort of agreement.
Watching Napoleon in its most complete cut and in the big screen is a rare treat, indeed!

-
Keep up the dialogue with your sock-puppet, stooge or confederate, as the case may be, at least you won't be talking to someone you'll later make the target of your misogynistic tirades.
-
They probably don't post stuff there until after the official press release, so you can probably get news just as fast (or maybe sooner) by going to independent websites that specialize in movies on DVD.
-
I am all for talking about movies, and yes, the web admin has been notified about this guy's penchant for hurling misogynistic insults.
-
Oh, and SueSue, if you really wanted to show that you're neither a sock-puppet or a stooge of johnm001, you could at the very least express some regret that he should resort to misogynistic insults like B**CH and WH**E when he gets upset at a woman.
-
Well, they haven't given a definite list yet, but they did say a new box set would be out this year with several musicals, and I don't think that includes the Judy & Mickey set...
-
-
Seems perfectly plausible, doesn't it? A woman on these boards who chats up merily with dirty old men who have shown several time in these forums their willingness to verbally abuse women with their misogynistic insults....
And of course, should it surprise anyone that he uses his alternate username to start threads about movies with adolescent girls? Maybe he gets his jollies with those, too.
-
Because you aren't concerned about dirty old men who like to verbally abuse women?
And then you encourage them (yourself) with new conversations about movies that depict adolescent women?
-
I'm sorry, lzcutter, but I strongly disagree with you for one very simple reason -- we simply do not know what a dirty old man who spouts misogynistic crap and enjoys verbally abusing women is capable of doing if he should ever -- heaven forbid -- establish contact outside the forums with some of the women who post here.
With any luck maybe he only likes to talk dirty and engage in "spank the monkey" sessions with his Julie Andrews photographs, maybe he only wants to find women he can verbally abuse... but that type of abusive behavior towards women should definitely ring off alarm bells, or at the very least, reminders to other women in these boards to be cautious.

This is probably blasphemy but . . .

I do think he was a marvelous and supremely underrated actor. His persona and showmanship deceive many into thinking he's playing the same guy over and over but he does play against type from time to time and in True Grit he presents us with a really marvelous character.
However, I totally understand why some just don't "cotten" to him. He's one of those love 'em or hate 'em types that seem to elicit strong opinions. I usually love that type.
Well said, MissG. It shouldn't be blasphemy not to like him for whatever reason, but give him a break first and try to watch a few of his best movies... anyone who still doesn't dig him can just avoid any more JW movies.
