  1. I don't care for that. And I would be more than a little suspicious with complete strangers asking for an e-mail address under any pretext.
  2. The Egyptian -- now, there's another movie that should be on DVD already...
  3. I love how the filmmakers of the time could put some real heart and soul into their characters and their lives... and Sirk was one of the best! I'd be in heaven if TCM could put together an aviation tribute some day, anything fromWings to Only Angels Have Wings, Ceiling Zero, Flying Tigers, Ceiling Zero, The High and the Mighty, Zero Hour, etc.
  4. *gives a klondike a hi-5* If nobody else likes tiramisu, I'll take it all for myself! :x
  5. The Left Hand of God Ah, been looking forward to TiVo'ing this one... if anyone else is interested, it airs March 6th at 12 ET on the Fox Movie Channel -- and it is letterboxed
  6. Awwww that's cool. That also happens to be one of the best features of the old studio system - you could almost always look forward to your favorite stars and many character actors working together on a somewhat regular basis. Have you seen Hollywood Canteen yet? Lorre and Greenstreet have a priceless cameo!
  7. Aren't all bad boys in some way... sexy?
  8. You *do* know that delicious meal probably wouldn't be complete without some Tiramisu, huh? http://www.heavenlytiramisu.com/
  9. No, in all honesty, I think serious painters will just enjoy expressing themselves artistically, no matter what anybody says or doesn't say. Would *you* spend time painting only because you wanted to hear people praise your work, or because you hoped it would sell for millions? I wouldn't.
  10. When I read in your post that you still have the films of the Marx Bros. to see, I was filled with such sudden envy. I'm sure every fan of them here would love to experience them all anew as you will be. You can say that again!
  11. Well, I wouldn't be 100% sure that each and every Asian-made DVD is fully licensed. And manufacturers anywhere in the world could make a DVD essentially region-free, although usually that's not the case with movies from major Hollywood studios, but that wouldn't stop someone if they're not making licensed DVDs to begin with.
  12. No one is trying to "make a mountain out of a molehill". Just didn't understand why you used one term when you meant "foreign-language".
  13. Well I think you're definitely on to something regarding the lack of more production money in the post-war period. As for non-linear storytelling... yes I guess some European films used it but some clear examples of Italian neorealism like Bicycle Thieves and Umberto D were told with fairly straightforward narrative. But I can totally understand what you mean regarding being used to studio-style filmmaking.
  14. I think I know the solution that would please both you and stoney... burning all Picassos?
  15. I think the schedule challenge is open until March 7th. Think you could put together a schedule based on the movies you'd like to watch?
  16. Well if it bothers you so much, show me where I can edit the "in response to" field.
  17. Yes, that's why I said another 1,200 by the end of the year. It still doesn't add up to 4,000+
  18. I used the word "you" in the general sense, not *YOU* personally.
